As morning dawned, Allie sat up and reached for the mysterious silver bracelet on her bedside table.
"What exactly is this thing?" Allie mused, her delicate fingers gently tracing the intricate patterns on the bracelet. The markings looked like some ancient runes, glimmering faintly in the morning light. Allie took a deep breath and decided to put it on. As she slid the bracelet over her wrist, it seemed to come alive instantly, automatically adjusting its size to fit perfectly at her pulse point.
Suddenly, a strange energy surged through Allie's body like an electric current. Her spine tingled, and her senses became incredibly acute. Allie was amazed to find that she could even hear the scurrying of mice outside the wall and smell the aroma of bread wafting from a distant bakery. Her vision became extraordinarily clear, able to see even the dust particles floating in the air. However, just as Allie began to adjust to this extraordinary perception, the feeling vanished as abruptly as it had appeared, as if it had all been an illusion.
"Incredible!" Allie exclaimed softly, her heart racing from the experience. She decided to immediately test the effects of this magical bracelet.
Allie quickly changed into her favorite roller skating gear: a tight-fitting black sports top and deep blue workout pants with protective padding. She tied her silver hair into a high ponytail and put on her knee and elbow pads. Finally, she slipped on her worn but well-maintained roller skates, took a deep breath, and pushed open the door of her small house.
The slum streets looked particularly desolate in the morning light. Dilapidated buildings stood in irregular rows, their walls covered in graffiti and cracks. The streets were full of potholes, littered with debris and garbage, and the air was thick with an unpleasant odor. But for Allie, none of this mattered. She felt the bracelet grow slightly warm, and suddenly, her perception of the surroundings became extraordinarily clear. Every stone, every pothole, even the flow of air, was vividly mapped in her mind.
Allie took a deep breath, pushed off hard, and her body shot forward like an arrow. She zipped through the narrow streets, skillfully avoiding every obstacle. Each turn was precise to the millimeter, every jump as light as a feather. Allie felt as if she had become one with her skates, her movements flowing with near-perfect grace. Her silver hair danced in the wind, and her purple eyes sparkled with excitement.
Just as Allie was immersed in this exhilarating sensation, a commotion erupted ahead. She slowed down and skated over, seeing a crowd gathered at a street corner, the atmosphere tense. Angry shouts and cries came from the crowd, the air thick with tension and fear.
"What's happening?" Allie asked a wrinkled, ragged old man beside her.
The old man pointed shakily towards a water truck not far away, his voice hoarse: "The water station's been shut down. The refugees are trying to seize the water supply!"
Allie looked where he was pointing and saw a group of haggard people attempting to attack the water truck. Their clothes were in tatters, their faces covered in dirt and sweat. The workers on the truck were desperately calling for help, while beneath it was a group of children, their chapped lips and dull eyes heart-wrenching.
Just then, a group of fully armed police arrived. They wore black uniforms and carried electric batons, their eyes cold and merciless behind their visors. They began brutally dispersing the refugees without hesitation. Blue sparks from the electric batons flashed in the air, accompanied by the agonized screams of the refugees. A frail child was knocked to the ground, his head bleeding, his cries heart-rending.
"Stop!" Allie shouted, feeling an uncontrollable anger rising within her. She felt the bracelet suddenly become scorching hot, and something seemed to be churning inside her.
The police were startled by Allie's sudden appearance and eyed her warily. The lead officer, a burly middle-aged man with a fleshy face, narrowed his eyes as he looked at Allie.
"This is none of your business, little girl," the officer said coldly. "Leave now, or we won't be so nice."
Ignoring his threat, Allie quickly skated to the injured child's side and crouched down to check his wounds. The child had a deep gash on his forehead, blood trickling down his thin face.
"Are you okay? Don't be afraid," she said gently, reaching out to softly wipe the blood from the child's face.
The child nodded weakly, showing a hint of gratitude. His eyes were full of trust for Allie.
Seeing this, the officer became furious. He strode over, swinging his baton, "You're challenging our authority! Get out of here!"
Allie stood up, looking directly into the officer's eyes. She felt the power inside her begin to surge again, the bracelet burning hot. Allie's silver hair fluttered gently in the breeze, her purple eyes flashing with angry sparks.
"How can you treat innocent people like this?" Allie said sharply, her voice trembling slightly with anger. "They just want to survive. What right do you have to deprive them of that?"
The officer was momentarily stunned by Allie's intensity, but quickly regained his arrogant demeanor. His face turned red with anger, veins bulging on his forehead.
"What nonsense are you talking? Get out of my way, or else—"
Before he could finish, the officer was thrown back by a powerful force, slamming hard against the water truck. The metal body of the truck rang out with a loud crash as the officer slid to the ground, groaning in pain. Other police officers were also affected by this force, some flipped onto the ground, others crashing into nearby buildings. The air was filled with dust and terrified screams.
Allie stared at her hands in shock, unable to believe what had just happened. The officer struggled to his feet, his uniform now in tatters, his face covered in dust and blood.
"You... what weapon are you hiding?" he panted, shakily drawing his gun and aiming it at Allie.
At this critical moment, a red-haired girl darted out like lightning, striking the officer hard on the back of his head. The officer's eyes rolled back, and he collapsed unconscious. The red-haired girl was tall, wearing a vibrant multicolored jacket, her green eyes sparkling with excitement.
The red-haired girl looked at Allie, her eyes wide, exclaiming dramatically: "How did you do that? That was awesome! Do it again, knock them all down!"
Before Allie could respond, a group of police quickly surrounded them, their gun barrels pointed at their heads. The red-haired girl seemed unfazed, excitedly gesturing for Allie to use her powers again.
However, Allie felt the power inside her had vanished, and the bracelet had returned to its normal temperature. She looked around at the police in terror, at a loss for what to do.
A police officer pressed his gun barrel against the center of Allie's forehead, saying coldly: "Try anything funny, and your head's gonna blow."
Allie and the red-haired girl were roughly forced to the ground, cold handcuffs clicking shut around their wrists. Allie felt a sharp pain in her chest, her face pressed against the rough ground, choking on the dust.
"You two are under arrest! Charged with assaulting an officer and obstructing official duties!" an officer announced loudly, and then they were shoved into a police car.
