Silence is the only thing I am experiencing right now, before it is broken by a drop of water.I woke up in a bubble in the middle of an endless river, under a clear blue sky.
I don't know how I was born here. The only thing I remember is that my body was shaped by the faith of men, the only thing they ask of me is to become their hope.
I don't understand. They possess such a power of creation but ask for my help. They have so much potential to become powerful beings themselves, but instead, they want a superior being to come to their aid.
" What strange creatures ? "
The bubble bursts, transforming into liquid that covers her entire body. The goddess is now covered in her armor and holding her war lance. When she lands on the river, instead of diving, she walks with delicacy.
With each step, several small waves synchronize with the sound of her steps. Then, she heads towards a brown marble platform, sculpted like a tree. In the middle of this platform, there was the same river, except that when I approached, it began to change color.
The river takes on shades of black and white, then the other primary colors. It reflects humans undertaking a difficult expedition against the winter.
Many beings lose their lives but continue on their path. Although the goddess has no feelings towards them, she has a duty and a promise to uphold: to bring them hope.
She jumps onto the reflection of the river. At the moment she dives, a new dimensional gate appears in the other world. The man sees a bright light in the sky, covered by a dense cloud. The cloud dissipates to reveal the goddess of hope. There is a great wave of energy and aura after the goddess's appearance, attracting all species towards her. The man is blinded by the presence of the goddess and only seeks to obtain her blessing. As time seems to stop for a moment, the goddess unfolds her wings, which shine with a pure white color.
She heads towards the leader who stands at the front of the group. The snow begins to melt, giving way to the earth where grass grows rapidly. The goddess stands in front of the leader; she is taller than the man, who is only 1.70 meters tall compared to my 2.30 meters.
The leader seems unable to respond normally due to my presence. He tries so hard to gather his wits that he bites his tongue before he can respond, with a mix of admiration and fear.
"Are you our hope, O great being?"
"Yes, I am, and let me show you the way."
She takes her lance and strikes the air in the direction of the leader. All the snow melts, giving way to grass that instantly grows to form a verdant path. Before the leader can thank the goddess of hope, she speaks to him:
"My name is Aurore, the goddess of hope. I give you my lance because I trust you, I have seen the light in you. You will certainly be the pillar of humanity's survival and the one who will show the way in my name. You have my blessing."
As the leader doesn't even have time to think, he accepts out of reflex, fearing that Aurore might get angry with him. He holds out both arms to receive the lance.
When the lance touches him for the first time, a soul bond is created between them. The lance begins to shrink to perfectly fit his size and weight. A new sensation comes to life within him. He feels stronger than the other creatures after a quick reflection.
As the leader starts to discover these new sensations, the goddess flies away before disappearing.
This event will be described as the first contact with their god. The new beginning of the human era.
Many human populations describe this beginning as what allowed their race to evolve. They would rely on their intellectual advantage rather than their genetic advantage compared to other races.
While everyone discusses this important event they experienced, the leader seems disoriented by the situation. His name is Rolande, and he was the one who made everyone believe in the word "hope."
They believed that this would enable everyone not to give up on their lives. But he did not expect this to cause a superior being to descend from the heavens. She was the image of human perfection. I thought it was a dream after my death, but after receiving the lance, I realized otherwise.
The worst part was that it felt like she came straight out of my dream and fantasy. Please, tell me she chose me because I am indirectly her creator?
As I ponder all sorts of theories, the others look at me with various emotions. There was envy, admiration, doubt, respect, and so on.
Then I realize that I am also capable of sensing the emotions of others. I can do many things that humans would never be able to do.
But the most important thing for me is not the powers I have just acquired. It's the possibility that this goddess might be the source of my imagination, or perhaps the collective imagination.
I must try to understand, I might even discover something grand. But in the end, I set these thoughts aside. I have other concerns, like the expedition to the new land.
