Max van who was the last standing archmage of the empire. He was one of the six sages who fought against the demons.
Demons are special being that lives in the demon relam.. They hold quiet anger for humans because humanity was blessed by god and they weren't... This raises a spark of anger towards human.. After the war against demons human started to rebuild the empire because the damage was enormous.. when the humans started this demons were preparing for another war with the support of their demon king and the evil god... With the remaining FIVE SAGES they fought and killed the demon king.. When Max was trying tothe demon king a fragment escape and cast a ultimate spell on Max that will kill Max.. while Max was fighting against demon king the remaining SAGES

Even after demon king was heavily injured he cast that spell and ending the life of Max because the demonic magic far distractive than regular magic.. When max life was ending he thought the remaining sages will be enough for killing the demon king and if he ever have a another life and he will live with the people he love and thus Max was killed by demon king...
