I stared in shock as I saw the Simurgh streak over the horizon racing towards the tents.
"Halcyon!?"
But there was no answer. In the distance, I could only see a billowing dust cloud rise around the medical tents, a tremble starting to shake through the ground.
Next to me the medical staff and the other were panicking and Cask came over to me, "Panacea? What's going on?"
"Halcyon, he sent us here." She stared, "Do you have binoculars or something, I need to see what he's doing."
One of the guards walked over, "Halcyon did this? Why wasn't he with the movers?"
"He can heal too, some sort of telekinetic ability it seems." Cask explained, "can you see what's going on?"
The ground rumbled under our feet, around us several large spikes burst from the ground. A strange sense of static filled the air around us as a translucent barrier began to close in around us.
The guard was on his walkie-talkie as we looked out into the distance and saw a tiny blue spot burst out of the dust colour, several more black pillars surrounding him as he slammed into the flying form of the Simurgh.
And the Endbringer moved.
It rocketed back like a shot as one of the black pillars was thrown into its form, smashing into the ground, the plume of dust settling down to reveal easily visible even from our vantage point.
Halcyon blinked out of existence, taking the pillars with him as he reappeared over the Simurgh, one of the pillars already coming down in an overhead swing to hammer the creature back into the ground, even as a flow of rocks and debris simply parted around the blue figure.
In the distance, I could see the first of the capes following the Simurgh to arrive, the glowing streak that was Legend appearing even as Halcyon summoned even more of the black pillars to keep the Simurgh grounded.
Even with Legend strafing the creature, that was enough. Halcyon pulled back for a moment, and it seemed that was enough for the Simurgh to pull itself free, showing a monsterous strength it hadn't been forced to reveal before.
The guard's radio squawked as more capes joined the fight, "be advised, the Simurgh is not singing, I repeat the Simurgh is not singing."
We all stared at the radio,"the Fuck! What's going on?"
The radio continued to squawk for a few moments before a burst of static cleared the lines, "Thinker assistance appears to be blocked, all forms of sensory parahuman powers are not in alignment with known good reports. Capes, be prepared for a wave change in sixty seconds."
"This is medical-4, be advised that the cape Halcyon seems to be in some way related."
Halcyon's voice echoed over the radios, "All capes, this is Halcyon, I will be initiating an Antimatter Pumped Directed Blast in five seconds, please close and cover your eyes for light bloom."
The count down rounded as confused responses filled the radio, before a blinding line of light appeared in the distance, followed a few seconds later by a thunderous roar as the Simurgh was slammed back into a molten crater that sent the capes around it flying.
All that we were left to see was a glowing pit deep in the earth.
Then all of a sudden spears of molten rock were launched out of the hole, sending the capes clear as the damaged endbringer rocketed out of the hole like a shot from a cannon.
Halcyon swung for the creature, another black pillar guided by his telekinesis to smash into the monster. Even as damaged as it was, it managed to pick itself up and I watched in shock as the creature tried to run, a strange skittering movement as it pulled itself forward with every arm, leg and wing.
Halcyon took off in pursuit, but paused, hovering for a moment with the black pillars circling him as the Simurgh managed to get out of range of whatever he had created.
As it took to the air, the next wave of capes poured in, breaking against the injured creature in droves. I watched one of Dragon's suits fly up to Halcyon, allowing him to do something to it before it flew off, one of the black pillars in tow. A moment later, Halcyon appeared next to us.
