Chapter 1 - The Rising Dragon

Click, click, tap, tap.....

These were the only sounds coming from the room. Several computers flashed with bright lights. The ones controlling these computers were drenched in sweat. They were all young; the oldest seemed to be 25 years of age.

"Why didn't anyone tell us the pro scene was this difficult?" they all thought in unison.

They were just a bunch of people who were good at the game and thought they could make a killing by playing video games. They wanted to be rich fast and put all their money and savings into gaming, but if they could see themselves now, they knew it was all a mistake.

"Why did we even do this? It was a dumb idea," they thought, wishing they had listened to their parents' advice.

"Oh no, Lin Bo's Cake Taster has been killed," said the commentator.

"It doesn't seem like the rookies are gonna win this one. After all, they are going against Tidal Wave. They may be one of the lowest-ranked teams, but for newcomers like them, they are still fierce."

"Did that guy just say they were a low-ranked team?" thought Lin Bo. If they were a low-ranked team and they were still beating them, he shuddered to think what would happen if they fought against higher ranks.

"Since Cake Taster has been killed, a substitute will now be sent to the open field."

It was a 7 vs 7 team match-up, and Soaring Wings had already lost one member.

"Let's just hope that whoever they send to the field now is good enough to turn the tides." Even though the commentator said this, he had zero hope for Soaring Wings to win. He only said that because he was a commentator, and it was his job to do so.

"It seems the substitute they sent out is a Lancer."

"Let's see the face of this player." When the commentator and all the spectators saw the person's face, they all had one thought in their heads. "Young."

This kid was too young to be there. Yes, a lot of esports pro players were young, but this kid was too young. He looked like he was 12 or 13, a bit short as he struggled to sit in the chair.

"Is this a joke? Have you guys really gotten so weak that you send a kid to fight your battles?" asked Guo Qing, the leader of Tidal Waves.

This question made the spectators burst into laughter.

"Wow, so this is the pro scene," thought the young boy.

He rested his right hand on the mouse and his left hand on the keyboard. When he spawned on the map, all he had were a few clothes and one spear.

A message appeared on the screen:

Rising Wings substitute Rising Dragon has now spawned on the map.

He controlled Rising Dragon to start running towards the area where his teammates were locked in fighting.

"I can see what he is trying to do, but he spawned at the end of the map, and I don't think he will be able to make it in time."

As Rising Dragon started to run, flames erupted behind him.

"Oh, it seems that he is a Lancer since he is using Blazing Charge."

With the help of Blazing Charge, Rising Dragon quickly moved to where his teammates were locked in a deadly battle.

"Oh no, his presence has been perceived by Deadly Sniper, the shooter of Tidal Waves."

Deadly Sniper quickly took a shot at Rising Dragon, but Xu Long quickly moved his mouse down, and with the movement of his mouse, Rising Dragon's spear went down as well. The spear accurately slashed the bullet in half, and he quickly followed up with an attack of his own.

Guo Qing, the leader of Tidal Waves, frowned. "He's good," he muttered. He signaled his team to focus their attacks on the new player.

Deadly Sniper reloaded quickly, aiming for another shot. Meanwhile, Frost Mage began casting an ice spell to slow down Rising Dragon.

Rising Dragon's spear danced in the air, deflecting another bullet from Deadly Sniper. Xu Long's fingers flew across the keyboard as he activated Phantom Strike. Rising Dragon dashed forward, becoming a blur. He passed through Frost Mage, disrupting the spell and dealing damage.

"Impressive!" the commentator exclaimed. "Rising Dragon has managed to interrupt Frost Mage's spell with Phantom Strike!"

But Tidal Waves wasn't done yet. Tank Guardian stepped forward, raising his shield and using Shield Bash to knock Rising Dragon back. Rising Dragon staggered but quickly recovered, using Whirlwind Thrust to create a whirlwind around him. The whirlwind pushed Tank Guardian back, and the hidden effect slowed him down.

"He's using Whirlwind Thrust! Look at that control!" the commentator shouted.

Guo Qing, playing as Shadow Assassin, saw an opportunity and vanished into the shadows, reappearing behind Rising Dragon. His daggers flashed, aiming for a critical strike. But Xu Long was prepared. He activated Guardian Stance, increasing his defense and countering the attack. Rising Dragon's spear struck back, stunning Shadow Assassin for a brief moment.

Rising Dragon's movements were fluid and precise. He transitioned into Dragon Sweep, sweeping his spear low to the ground and tripping Tank Guardian and Frost Mage. The knockdown effect left them vulnerable, and the hidden effect reduced their defense.

"Dragon Sweep! He's exploiting every weakness!" the commentator marveled.

But Tidal Waves wasn't out of the fight yet. Fire Mage began casting a powerful fireball, aiming directly at Rising Dragon. Xu Long smirked. He activated Phantom Strike again, dashing towards Fire Mage and becoming invincible for a brief moment. The fireball passed harmlessly through him, and Rising Dragon's spear struck Fire Mage, interrupting the spell and causing significant damage.

"He used Phantom Strike again! Unbelievable!" the commentator exclaimed.

Guo Qing wasn't about to give up. He directed his team to regroup and coordinate their attacks. Rising Dragon was surrounded, but Xu Long remained calm. He activated Storm Vortex, spinning his spear above his head and creating a vortex that pulled in the surrounding enemies. The vortex damaged them over time, and the hidden effect reduced their attack speed.

"Storm Vortex! He's controlling the battlefield!" the commentator shouted.

Deadly Sniper tried to get a clear shot, but the vortex's pull disrupted his aim. Frost Mage attempted another spell, but Rising Dragon's constant attacks kept him off balance. Shadow Assassin, recovering from the stun, tried to flank Rising Dragon again, but Xu Long activated Serpent's Coil. Rising Dragon's spear wrapped around Shadow Assassin, pulling him in and immobilizing him. The hidden effect reduced Shadow Assassin's attack power, making him less of a threat.

Rising Dragon then focused on Fire Mage, who was trying to cast another spell. He activated Sky Piercer, leaping into the air and descending with a powerful thrust. The impact stunned Fire Mage, and the hidden effect made Fire Mage take additional damage from all sources.

"Sky Piercer! What a move!" the commentator yelled.

With Fire Mage down, Rising Dragon turned his attention to the remaining enemies. He used Earth Splitter, slamming his spear into the ground and causing a shockwave that damaged and knocked back Tank Guardian and Frost Mage. The shockwave left a fissure that continued to deal damage over time.

"Earth Splitter! He's relentless!" the commentator said.

Deadly Sniper, seeing his team fall one by one, desperately tried to take out Rising Dragon from a distance. But Xu Long had anticipated this. He activated Shadow Impale, creating shadow duplicates that mirrored his attack. The shadow clones hit multiple targets, and one of them applied a bleeding effect to Deadly Sniper.

"Shadow Impale! He's everywhere!" the commentator exclaimed.

Tank Guardian, severely weakened, made a last-ditch effort to charge at Rising Dragon. But Xu Long was ready. He activated Gale Thrust, rapidly thrusting his spear multiple times. Each hit had a high critical strike chance, and with each critical hit, Rising Dragon's health was restored slightly.

"Gale Thrust! He's not only attacking but healing as well!" the commentator shouted.

With Tank Guardian down, only Frost Mage and Deadly Sniper remained. Rising Dragon used Piercing Thrust, charging forward with a powerful thrust that pierced through Frost Mage. The attack had a chance to ignore a portion of Frost Mage's defense, and the hidden effect temporarily paralyzed him.

"Piercing Thrust! What precision!" the commentator marveled.

Deadly Sniper, now the last man standing, tried to retreat and find a safe spot to snipe from. But Xu Long wasn't giving him any chance. He activated Dragon's Descent, leaping into the air and bringing his spear down with tremendous force. The impact caused an explosive effect, stunning Deadly Sniper and creating a shockwave that extended the damage radius.

"Dragon's Descent! It's over!" the commentator exclaimed.

Deadly Sniper fell, and the screen flashed with the message: **Victory.**

"I can't believe it! Rising Wings just won! How is this possible? How could the presence of one man on the battlefield change the results?" The commentator was in disbelief. There was only one thing all the Tidal Wave players were thinking.

"Prodigy." This kid was a true prodigy. He had just entered the match, but he gained an overwhelming victory over all those who were present.

"I think this match shows and speaks to everyone that age isn't everything, and even a child can beat an adult," said the commentator.

After this, Xu Long went forth to play against other players and attained victory over all. In the pro scene, he was given the title of God and King among all the players. But sadly, before he could reach his peak, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

In the pro scene, hand speed was very important, but with

the disease, his once-fast hands slowed down and could no longer reach the speed they could before. He couldn't even walk straight anymore and had to retire early. From getting the disease, the people he had defeated mocked him as the once-powerful God could no longer shine again.

He had to live his life like that till he died.

On his deathbed, he only had one thought in his head.

"I wish I could play one last time."

He thought he had died, but when he opened his eyes again, he was greeted by a voice that gently woke him up.

"Wake up, Xu Long."

"What the f*ck."
