Chapter 32 - Chapter 32 | That's.. Ugly

The doors closed and peeking above the closet, everyone had left. The moonlight had already disappeared, which meant that morning was already coming up soon.

Climbing out, I used my wind to slow my fall, safely getting down. When morning rises, I had to tell my father as soon as possible. There was no delay, Lione was someone evil, he had to be stopped. And yet, I stopped in my tracks as I opened the door.

Lione was probably really strong, was he a Fourth Prism user? Third? Perhaps even Second? Maybe I shouldn't tell him, it'd raise suspicions to me.. How would dad react? Distraught? Confused? Annoyed at me for telling such a 'lie'?

Was it the right choice? Of course it was, even if it wasn't, he'd eventually understand right? I was his daughter, he would. I'm sure he would.

Shrieek!

Slamming into the ground, it was the damn creature. It's head slowly loomed over my face, it's neck was incredibly long, its face was that of a mutated woman. A grotesque smile, a chill ran down my spine. My hands couldn't move and I couldn't yell for help, especially not so close to Lione's study room.

It's face got closer to me, mere breaths away from my own. It snickered, 4 fingered hands that were thick and had reptilian scales covering its arms. I tried to wriggle out but to no avail. I couldn't look behind me because I was pinned down, and I only had a few seconds to escape this hold it had on me.

It's mouth opened wide, as big as my head, caving in closer to my head. What could I do?

Voom! Shrieek!

A blast of wind surged from the side, blasting it off. Thankfully, I was able to still use my Aether because of Miss Layla's teachings. Not using my hands for spells naturally allowed me to control Aether much more easily.

I stumbled but regained my balance. I sprinted down the hall, using my wind to boost me even further. Looking back, the creature's body was also covered in scales, and its slim and skinny body made it look that much more ugly.

Bump!

Accidentally slamming my face into the wall from my speed, I staggered, trying to get back up. It was fast and stealthy, what the hell was this monster?

Who could I ask for help? I glanced at each room, simultaneously thinking of who I could ask. My father! Although I could've gotten in troubles, that was the least of my worries. His room was just another upstairs, the furthest down the hall. Sh*t, why was his so far away?

Was this also apart of Lione and Priscilla's villainous plan? The more I looked back, the closer the monster seemed to get. I was using a wind boost and yet it was catching up?

I propelled myself up the first flight of stairs before turning and doing it once more. It was just a straight line! I could make it, only a bit more. Just a bit more! The creature was quick and agile, its speed didn't even decrease when manoeuvring around the stairs. It ran onto the ceiling.

It got faster, and now it was even faster than my wind boost. I sprinted even faster, my silence sound spell deactivated, my Aether capacity was running low. And soon even my wind boost ran out.

Sh*t! Sh*t! Sh*t! Sh*t! Sh*t!! Dad's room was just a few metres away! I could see it! As I looked up once more, its gaping wide mouth was right there.

Was this the time I died? No, I wasn't going to die right now! I used my landing to lean forwards, and simultaneously as I twirled around, I used my hands, clapping the sides of its mouth together.

Vooom!

I used its mouth to blast wind together and used the recoil to blast me closer to Dad's room. His room was right there!

Eeek!

Huh? As I looked at it, the sunlight was burning its skin? It crawled quickly to the top once more from the small concussion I gave it and continued to sprint toward me.

So fire was its weakness.. I got up, standing still as it ran faster than before. I was waiting, waiting for the right moment..

Not yet.. It's mouth opened, lunging with its long hands reaching for me.

Not yet.. It's mouth was now even bigger than my own head.

It's arms were about to grab me, but I was quicker. Manifesting a ball of fire from my hands, I ducked and grabbed its neck. The flames rapidly burned away at its skin. Within an instant, its nape was melted off and purple mixed in with red blood flowed out of its neck. It dropped to the floor, mouth still open.

"Ugh.." Dad opened his door, yawning as he wiped his eyes. "Morning Lia.. Wait, what is a Night Stalker doing here?" He looked at me, a blank face, he looked back at the night stalker. His mouth dropped open, pointing his finger to the Night Stalker's dead body then to me repeatedly.

"Um.. Did you-"

"Yeah, I did." His jaw dropped even further, continuing to point his finger both at me and back to the creature.

"I- I- What?!"

"So what you're saying is, you were creeping around at night because you heard something in your room, and then you were being chased all night?" We settled down in one of the two living rooms, Dad finally calmed down, though was still astonished.

"You know those things are comparable or even stronger than Fourth Prism users right? You're lucky you had fire-" His head shot up to look at me. "How was its nape basically melted..?"

"I used fire to melt its nape."

"Wait wait wait.. Isn't your affinity to wind?"

"Yes, and fire." And basically everything else.. I didn't tell him that though.

"This is quite a lot to take in.. No wonder you killed it so easily, their weakness is literally the sun.. But you still killed it, that's still an achievement Lia! I should've been more worried that a Night Stalker was targeting you but I'm happy!" He ruffled my hair, smiling like a proud father.

"So, what are we going to do with the body Dad?"
