Father gave me a report that some of his friends are actually Alpha worshippers in secret. They do not believe that Beta is the true God and some of the new things that the Church has implemented are downright questionable, he was only able to 2 of them but others would join.
I told them that we need to check if they are good people or not, just to be sure. I will have to use my holy spell to them. Father agreed.
We met the two guys in the adventurers guild, on the pretense if people ask that we would just discuss things about the missing children and the stabbings. My father's trusted friends invited other people. As they sit outside the guild in a meeting table. My mother is wearing a barmaids clothes and a white cloth covering her face. I'm wrapped in a think blanket looking like a baby that she is trying tend to sleep. (embarrassing but what can you do)
This is really dangerous but if I cast my holy and someone tries to attack us, we will shout for help and hopefully others would defend. As soon as the rest of the people that we are waiting appears, I will cast holy and take a peak then my mom leaves.
Finally a group of people sat in our table, 3 more came. I cast my holy spell as weakly as I can. Then check everyone in the group.
Whew! No dark aura around them. They're not followers of Damon. I was going to tap my mother in the arm to signal her to leave but I froze.
There are 2 people in the adventurers guild that has dark aura, trying to look inconspicuous but it's obvious that they got uneasy when I cast my holy spell. They seem to be looking around checking who cast the spell. My mother felt me froze so she covered my face while pretending to coo me to sleep.
The two guys were roaming around then stopped in front of my fathers table.
"Good day men! Someone seems to have cast some magic around here trying to spy on me and my colleague We don't like being checked out you see. Makes us feel exposed you see. Say, you look that there is some mighty important things that you are discussing here? Maybe we can help?" The guy said in a friendly and relaxed tone.
"I'm afraid we are just discussing here about the missing children and the the stabbings that are happening. This didn't happen before and we are just trying to find a way to save those poor children." My father said.
"Uhuh. Well, mighty well of you folks helping out whenever you can. I say, it's those Alpha cultists that are behind this, they're offering these children to the False God. If there are a group that's going to do this, it would be those Alpha fools. They just couldn't accept that God's name is really Beta and insist on holding on to the lies." The other guy said.
"My friend here and I are looking for these Alpha fools. If I find them, I will make sure to make them change their minds and if they re refuse, as a member of the Beta Church, I have no choice, to send them to the Temple to be whipped so that they would see the erros of their ways." Says the main guy.
"If you ever find any Alpha worshippers. We are just usually here drinking beer. If you find them, tell it to us." We will give them a good whipping, I mean whooping."
"Aint that right Felix?"
"Yes sir. We do like correcting false ways." The smaller man called Felix said.
"No problem sir. If we find them, we will be glad to report them to you." Father said. "By the way, to whom do I owe this pleasure?" Father offered his hand.
Carl, my name is Carl Cestis. I'm just a simple rancher such as yourself." The man called Carl said.
"I didn't know you were a farmer." Father said.
"We farmers should stick together. "By the way my name is Kelsier." Father shook his hand.
"A pleasure meeting you folks, from one farmer to the other. Be seeing you guys. The two men went outside the Guild.
My father sighed in relief. My mother was shaking and looks exhausted from the exchange. We need to get out of here quick.
Father looked at his friends and his companions and whispered something to them. They look relieved that the 2 men were gone.
My father and his friends left seperately in the various exits of the Guild.
My mother and I went to the back door of the Guild were father went.
That was pretty close. Too close. We need to meet them somewhere safe. I need to speak with Father about this."
