With the grass nearly reaching my neck, i sit by the river, i splash some water on my cheeks, moving my attention toward the shop.
'If i really have to live here a year or more, regardless if i can survive i really need some essentials.'
"Shop."

'Huh, I guess points are the currency here, and i'm starting with a hundred, that's a relief. I do need food and stuff like toiletpaper, and a toothbrush and some boots.'
'Wait can i die from hunger if im invulnerable? But... it will probably still be painful. Even if i don't need it, I doubt I have the self control not to eat...
Lets just see how much normal food cost first.'
I open the food category.

"This is food???"
I start scrolling, but everything is simply ridiculously expensive. Half of them also have crazy side effects.
'Does being invulnerable mean I can eat these ridiculous things without side effects... No probably not, even if I had the points I wouldn't chance it.'
I stop scrolling
'Are those devil fruits?'

Scrolling through the different fruits for a while, i started feeling more and more curious about the other categories. Putting food to the side for a moment, I start looking through them.
I now realise, that I can buy pretty much whatever I want from many different stories.
Like the devil fruits, I can also buy skills like haki and rokushiki from one piece.
From Naruto there's ninja skills, jutsus, weapons and kekkei genkai, but in order to use any of it you would need to buy a Chakra network elixir, which is of course just as expensive as a devil fruit.
In fact, a lot of these things rely on a special constitution to use. Harry Potter being another example, where you can buy a wand that fits you perfectly, but without buying a wizard bloodline elixir, it would just be a stick in your hands.
I can even buy things only crazy people would buy, like curses from Jujutsu kaisen. Honestly the disclaimers for these curses are ridiculously long.
I also realized the skills, was less like skills in games, and more like buying a base understanding and a high natural talent. You can buy a skill but it will start in the f-tier and then grow depending on how and if you train it.
If i already have some skill, it would not mean I'm really good at the skill, just that i learned the basics and have talent. I know how to cook decently, but i doubt i have the skill cooking, since it's not really a talent inherent to me.
'Oh I can buy a nen awakening, and comparatively it's not that expensive only being 5000pt. Maybe it's cheaper since it fits the world.'
'Anyway necessities.'
Getting back on track I use the seach option to find what I need.
Ordinary vegetables and fruit are about 1pt for several, like 1pt for 6 apples.
Meat is about a kg for 1-10pt depending on the cut, something like wagyu beef being 10pt.
'It's not expensive i think, well it depends on how easy it is to get points. If points are too hard to get I need to figure out how to forage, which means I'll need to enter the forest.'
"Maybe I'll start a garden!"
I can't help but smile with the idea, gardening is not only useful, but also very calming.
With the idea in my head, I start questioning the system about this lands climate and season, to figure out what will grow well here.
According to the system the climate here is subtropical. The date is January 2nd 1999. It would be winter back home, but in this place it's in the middle of spring.
'I'll just buy seeds, that i think can work in this climate. In Denmark it's much colder and the summers are usually mild, so I haven't really researched what can work in a more humid and warmer environment.'
I then proceed to put tomato, pumpkin, onion, and carrots seeds, 1pt for a pack, in the shopping basket. This is followed by six potatoes and six sweet potatoes for 2pt. I also decide to get a toothbrush for 0,5pt, a six-pack of toiletpaper for 1pt, a brush for 0,5pt, and a pair of sturdy boots for 4pt. The total in the basket being 12pt.
"Buy basket."
The moment the words come out, a dark hole appears in front of me making my pupils shrink in fright, as I'm still sitting by the edge of the river.
When a corner of a box starts exiting the hole, I trust my arms out to catch it, before it drops into the river, and is inevitably swept away never to be seen again.
I barely manage to catch the heavy box.
I breath a sigh of relief, while putting it beside me.
Opening the box, I can't help but smile looking at the seeds, but the smile is only brief.
'I may have been a bit rash, but I guess that's what happens when distracting oneself.
In order to make a garden, I will need gardening tools and maybe fertilizer, also It'll be a while before i can harvest anything. To continue buying more would be reckless, without a way to get points more regularly.'
"Question- how can I get points?"
[Answer: Points can be earned through hosting quizzes and trading for items in your possession.]
'Trading?'
I find myself looking at my surroundings, as if something valuable would sprout out of the ground. But as there's only grass and flowers, I refocus on the screen.
'I guess I need to explore the forest, though extremely dangerous, there should be something valuable there.... wait'
I turn my head toward the closest 3 meter tall rose-ish flower.
"Question- can I trade that flower?"
[Answer: Yes, the Minstrel rose can be traded for 5 points.]
I blankly stand up, looking around again, this time focused on what looks like hundreds of flowers towering around the glade. While it's possible that not all of them will be worth points, it'll still be a lifesaving harvest.
Without thinking too much, I immediately buy some big gardening shears for 5pts.
The box lands in the grass this time. I open the box, but just before gripping the tool, I stop myself. Slightly frustrated at my ability to get distracted.
'I don't know where in the timeline I am, and I only have so much information, I can use. If I miss something like the hunter exam, my pool of usable information will only get smaller.'
'Argh... the flowers won't run away, so I'll collect them later i guess.'
"Question- where in the timeline am I?"
[Answer: Gon will be leaving whale Island for the hunter exam tomorrow on January 3rd 1999. More detailed information can be accessed through the crystal ball in the safe house.]
"The crystal ball is an information source?"
Determined to check it out, I look down on the two boxes at my feet.
'I really should have bought these inside the house.'
I take a deep breath, put one box on top of the other, and with some difficulty hoist the them into my arms.
Entering the house, I put down the boxes carelessly, as I focus in the transparent blue crystal.
I sit down across the crystal, that is slightly bigger than my head, while questioning the system on how it's used.
Like everything else it's also controlled by voice commands. Through it I can spy on anybody and any place I know the name of. I can also refresh all my knowledge about hxh, as all the chapters in the manga can be read on it. Oddly I can also read other manga on it, and while this option is nice it's also confusing, when it doesn't seem like a necessary feature.
'Anyway it's a blessing, I was honestly getting worried if my memory would be good enough.'
The next few hours was then used on researching and creating my first quiz.
