Chapter 000: Auxiliary Chapter I.

Chapter 000: Auxiliary Chapter Part 1.

There is no system—wait, before you close this, hear me out for just a second, okay? There is no system that issues quests, rewards, and similar mechanics that will use it to advance the narrative, because I don't like that approach.

Example:

An MC is going about their business, and then, out of nowhere, a quest appears. The MC may be given the choice to either accept or refuse it, provided the system is civil and doesn't impose a death penalty for every quest.

Most of the time, the MC will accept the quest while grumbling, saying that the reward is too good to pass up.

It's like taming, if you think about it. It's like having a dog and offering it treats if it performs a trick or a good action. You get the idea?

I don't like this trope. I prefer an MC with a clear goal, who might request powers that they will train with from time to time, but it won't be like a system store.

It's more like Tensura's skill system.

For example:

The MC requests the [Water Manipulation] skill. If they master it completely, it evolves into [Leviathan, Lord of the Seas]

You get the idea?

Also, when the MC gains a skill like [Water Manipulation], it is imprinted in their soul. So, they have the general knowledge of how to use it but lack full control.

The analogy I like to use is that of a toddler and an athlete. Both have an arm, but the way they use it and the amount they can lift is different.

The MC knows they can make a water blade attack, and they can do it, but it's not as effective as when they have perfect control over the skill. So, if they can cut a tree with a water blade when they first gain the skill, then with mastery, they can cut down an entire forest.

We need OP MCs who know how to use their powers and can grow into absolute freaks of nature—and that's what I'm trying to create.

I will upload a separate chapter that details the abilities and appearances of the characters as they currently stand.
