Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: Division and Recruitment

Inside the command center of the Forward Base:

"The third infantry company of the ARS has taken over the defense duties at the Gate of Hell. The accompanying technical personnel are copying all the data and remotely controlling the Adventurer to prevent its premature departure and to contain all events on Pandora."

"Major Arthur Morgan is leading the first and second companies in a sweep and investigation to confirm that the threat in the room-temperature superconducting mine has been completely eliminated."

"The remaining ARS combat units have escorted the Na'vi captives to the prison area of the Forward Base and have transported over six hundred RDA mercenaries to the independent barracks area, monitored by the first combat platoon of the fourth company."

"The six reconstituted soldiers who participated in the assault have been handed over to their dedicated team for post-battle maintenance. Once tuned back to optimal condition, they will assist the first combat platoon of the fourth company in monitoring the RDA mercenaries."

"All casualty numbers have been preliminarily compiled and will be uploaded as soon as they are verified."

As each staff member sent their detailed information to the central console, they also gave brief reports to Samuel Young.

Standing beside the second-floor central console, Samuel Young continued to browse and summarize the current situation through numerous holographic screens.

Samuel Young was already accustomed to high-pressure work. He even noticed that after the second spatial gate opened, both his physical and psychic capacities had further strengthened and increased.

Along with him, Robert (Guilliman) and Saint Gilles also "strengthened" due to his "enhancement." Otherwise, Saint Gilles wouldn't have been able to defeat Jake Sully's mount, the Phantom Beast, with sheer strength.

These two children, not even two years old yet, had mentalities comparable to average 14 or 15-year-old teenagers, with insight and logical thinking far surpassing the norm.

Saint Gilles was active and martial, so Samuel Young had the company create a retractable metal spear for him.

Although Robert also enjoyed martial activities, he often lost to Saint Gilles, so he began to lean towards politics and military strategy. Thus, Samuel Young had the company's entertainment department develop a grand strategy game for him.

Indeed, Atlas's private business spanned a wide range of sectors, from pioneering communication technology to toy manufacturing for children.

Atlas avoided direct conflict with Vought in military industries but never shied away from other sectors.

Under Samuel Young's influence, the electronics industry in the primary universe had advanced to levels comparable to the early 2000s to 2010s of the pre-crossing world, indirectly affecting various industries.

Atlas also had numerous internally exclusive electronic products, such as single-soldier computers and ultra-thin tablets, which were only sold on the market when they were about to be phased out.

Atlas Entertainment, encompassing media, film, and games, included Atlas Game, a subsidiary with independent buildings and comprehensive hardware and software development teams.

As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast, Samuel Young often provided suggestions and development directions for the game department.

This led Atlas Game to define what a console and handheld console were and to create many classic game series.

To avoid Robert feeling left out because Saint Gilles received a satisfactory gift while he didn't, Samuel Young personally funded the game department to develop a game combining elements of "Civilization" and "Total War" within three months. The game was highly detailed and realistic.

The game department, upon completing this task, received double the annual bonus and more research and operational funds. Robert indeed loved the custom game.

Over the past year and more, Samuel Young faintly felt that as Atlas's influence grew, so did his physical and psychic capacities, albeit slowly.

This growth was subtle. If it weren't for the noticeable fluctuations when Atlas established a division on Earth Zero-One, extending its influence to another universe, Samuel Young might not have noticed it.

However, the establishment of the division was inevitable, and he would have noticed it sooner or later.

Now, Atlas had secured the mining rights for room-temperature superconducting minerals, ensuring at least five years of uninterrupted development—enough time for the company to grow rapidly.

Nevertheless, Samuel Young didn't dismiss the idea of setting up a division on Earth Zero-Two. Hence, when the third combat platoon of the Hunter Company completed the assault on the Gate of Hell, he had already shut down the base's communication facilities.

This left the Adventurer, orbiting nearby, completely unaware of the ground situation, only knowing that scientists and Na'vi had initiated a rebellion.

The situation truly stabilized only when the company's technical personnel arrived at the Gate of Hell and remotely controlled the Adventurer.

The next step was to send technical personnel aboard the Adventurer to gather more information and data, enabling Atlas to acquire related aerospace technology sooner.

However, establishing a division required sending investigators to Earth Zero-Two. Samuel Young was contemplating whether to assign this task after the technical personnel completed their data collection.

But…

The thought of a round trip taking ten years made Samuel Young postpone the establishment of the Zero-Two division for the time being.

The spatial gate opened every 414 days. Ten years was sufficient for Samuel Young and Atlas to explore eight universes. They might even acquire technologies like warp engines or hyperspace travel from these universes.

As for dealing with Miles Quaritch and the six hundred RDA mercenaries, Samuel Young intended to recruit them.

In "Avatar," Miles Quaritch was portrayed as a "villain," but the plot and details revealed that this retired colonel cared for his people, valued the lives of his subordinates, and had firm principles and resolve—qualities of a competent officer.

Honestly, Samuel Young found Colonel Quaritch more charismatic than the protagonist, Jake Sully, when he first watched the movie.

As Atlas extended its influence to Pandora, Samuel Young had considered recruitment plans. Conveniently, the RDA mercenaries, despite their combat strength, were the best available recruits.

Using Atlas's elite strategy to screen and recruit six hundred soldiers would take one to two years, ensuring loyalty and preventing leaks.

But the RDA mercenaries had no such concerns. They had no connections to the primary universe. Atlas only needed to provide money, benefits, and places for them to spend it.
