Chapter 106 - Progenitor's Ancient Sites

'An Ancient Site... what does it mean?!'

Countless thoughts filled the young man's mind.

He thought about Nihilir and the possible connection with this so-called ancient site of a nameless Progenitor.

He thought of his possible origins again.

More and more possibilities and wild reflections occupied his mind, but soon August disclosed another absurd secret: "Indeed... in our basement, there is the entrance for the Ancient Site... and we will gladly bring you there if you wish."

This secret was simply too much...

He lived all his life above an ancient site from immemorial times...

Maybe there he could unveil more secrets...

Atlas was so excited that he couldn't wait any longer and asked: "Can we go down now? I would like to see what is in there..."

This was an excellent opportunity to overcome those sad memories, so they got up and headed to the basement together.

Compared to the house size, those in the basement were at least twice as large.

It was well organized and had more than four rooms.

One was the alchemy room, one was a depository, and the last two were small cultivation rooms with a wide variety of Formations.

Atlas had visited the alchemy room and the depository many times, but he had never entered the other two because there were many Formations, which could greatly increase the gravity in them.

Until a few weeks ago, he was an average human without even a Chaotical Core, so he had never been able to use them.

They kept moving until they stopped before one of the alchemy room's walls.

'So... there was a hidden formation here... that's why I have felt a peculiar feeling here in the past...'

Atlas was currently using his unique eyes to look through the illusory Formation in front of them.

Facing the obstacle, August touched some specific points a couple of times, and sure enough, the wall disappeared, showing the long and narrow passage hidden behind.

"Atlas, follow our steps because the Ancient Formations are still intact and can kill you easily..."

Atlas was immediately alerted and kept the Obsidian Eyes active for more security.

Following the couple, Atlas finally comprehended why they were acting so tense.

The long passage was literally filled with hundreds of complex formations.

Some of them were so intricate that he was speechless.

'Those are not simple Formations... I don't even think that they belong to this world... they are way more complex and archaic than the ones I have encountered so far.'

After a long hour of suspense, the trio reached their destination, coming in the view of an empty cave that extended for at least six hundred feet.

There was a long line of ancient-looking columns and an altar with a small statue at its center.

It was such a poor place that Atlas was left wordless for a while.

"It's just that? There are no inscriptions... no references... nothing... So why did you bring me here?"

Atlas was quite disappointed and couldn't help but ask this question.

August and Marigold looked at each other for a while. Marigold neared him and took his hands with a warm smile: "Little Atlas... don't you find this place familiar?"

Her question was so strange. This was Atlas' first time here, so how could he find it familiar?

"Grandma... what are you talking about?"

Catching the confusion lingering in his eyes, August patted his shoulder warmly and insisted: "Look at that altar. Don't you remember anything?"

Atlas was even more puzzled. What was the meaning of their words?

"Grandpa... I don't understand..."

Noticing that nothing was happening, Marigold took out something from her space artifact, the pendant around her neck.

It was a small necklace with a shady black pearl.

Atlas looked at it for a while, and suddenly...

Pha!

Blood came out of his mouth and nose as if something terrible was happening inside his body...

"Hmm... he found it sooner than I had expected..."

Somewhere in a world of emerald light, a lonely silhouette looked worried inside a golden pond.

As for what he was worried about, only he knew it.

"What should I do?"

Soon, the black pearl appeared, and the world around him turned turbulent: "She is giving that thing to him??"

He noticed the peculiar necklace and was attracted mainly by the black pearl.

Suddenly, he saw Atlas lose his balance and collapse to the ground after suffering from grave injury.

"What the hell is going on? Did that little guy get such a mental shock that he even suffered damage?"

Looking at Atlas's figure from afar, the figure trembled for the first time since his awakening. His ancient and steady mind was troubled by a myriad of thoughts.

"She hid it with him? Why did she do something like this? We made a pact... Dammit!"

A virulent power erupted from his body. It was violated to the sealed dimension, but as happened in the past, a bit of that power flowed out and permeated the world of Oblivion.

"Don't blame me, little boy, but I can't let you r..."

Somewhere else, a group of people was making another incredible discovery...

"Umbriel... How far are we from the treasure room?"

"City lord... at our current speed, we will reach that place in a couple of hours. This place is filled with Ancient Formation, so we can't be too careless."

Umbriel and the City Lord were walking along a narrow path similar to the one Atlas and his grandparents had used to reach the Ancient Site.

It was just that this path was much longer as if the Ancient Site had been built many... many eons ago.

Probably, this site was so ancient that no one had reached it since the beginning of the world.

It took a long time, but eventually, the duo reached the destination, and unlike Atlas, the underground cave was full of treasures.

"Umbriel... this... this is not a dream, right?"

"Mmm... this is all true. We have already checked it."

The City Lord approached the first chest and opened the old and rusty lid.

"Incredible..."

A dense Chaos Energy assaulted his body.

Surprisingly, the chest was filled with High-Grade Chaos Stone, and the amount was so tremendous that he couldn't believe his eyes...

Euphoria took control of his mind. Before long, more than half the chests in the room had their lids open.

The chamber was so full of Chaos Energy that an energy-saturated liquid began to drip from the ceiling.

Surrounded by all that wealth, the City Lord was momentarily lost.

But it didn't take long for his expression to change again into an immense joy.

"HAHAHAHA... Umbriel, we can finally take revenge. Who would dare to stop us now? WHO??"

Seeing his reaction, Umbriel was glad. He waited for so long, but in the end, his decision was the correct one.

"City Lord... there is more..."

The City Lord chased his old servant like a little child and discovered what he was referring to.

"This... is this one of those Ancient Formations with the decree of time?"

"Yes... only the Divine Sect had them. With this, our plans will proceed even faster."

"You are right... with this thing, we will take half of the time to achieve our goal..."

The City Lord looked around, and a lot more treasure popped out.

Armor, weapons, and ancient pills were literally everywhere.

That place was like a small world of treasures.

"I can see it... No one will stop us this time, we will take back everything we lost..."

"I'm sure about that, City Lord..."

The due started collecting all the treasures.

They were so many that they used almost three space rings to collect them.

After almost an hour, the only thing left in the room was the statue and the altar.

They didn't dare to go near that area because there was something so creepy that even they, who had seen a lot in their life, couldn't bear...

"Umbriel... what do you think about that?"

There was nothing else to do there, so the duo started discussing what was on top and around the altar.

"City Lord... I noticed signs of an Ancient Teleportation Array. If I'm right, this wealth and those remains should come from another place."

Hearing that, the City Lord thought deeply before answering: "You mean someone out there sent resources and people here eons ago?"

"Probably..."

If they were right then, what they had before was a way to another world, a world very far from the World of Oblivion.

"But... from their body's length, they should all be children around 5 to 10 years old..."

Those words were genuinely shocking...

What was the truth about that?

And what about the Ancient Site where Atlas was currently?
