Students in the same rank were also given numbers, that is, there would be strongest blue ranked student and the weakest. This also applied to the other ranks. Normally the top five students in each rank would be given one chance to challenge one of the ten bottom ranked students in the higher rank. The blue ranked students challenged each other to get a better number ranking in their rank. After a while, all the students in the blue rank were done with their challenges and were ranked accordingly.
After that, the top five students in the green rank were given each one chance to challenge anyone among the last ten in the blue rank. The first in the green rank was the first to issue a challenge. He went to the arena and turned to the last ranked rank and challenged him. It was obvious that he did not want to take any risk with getting promoted to the blue rank as he chose the easiest opponent. After fighting for a while, the green ranked student managed to defeat his opponent and was promoted to the blue rank.
After him came the second in the green rank. He issued a challenge to the third last in the blue rank and within a few moves he was promoted while his opponent was demoted. The third in the blue rank was a girl. She went to the stage and challenged another girl who was ranked fourth from the bottom. Their battle got a lot of cheers from then male students. After quite a struggle, the challenger managed to defeat her opponent and she was promoted with the exact opposite being done to her opponent.
Luck didn't seem to be on the side of the last two challengers as they were defeated and remained in the same rank. The demoted students would be given a chance to challenge any of the remaining unchallenged last ten in the blue rank. After issuing their challenges, only the girl and the third last student managed to get back to their ranks. The previously blue rank student was thrashed by their opponent and had been demoted permanently. As for the students who were demoted by the two, they were also demoted permanently to the green rank.
The challenges among the indigo rank students commenced. After a one hour, all the students were ranked according to their performance. Next would be the top five blue rank students challenging the bottom ten indigo rank. Unfortunately there was a huge strength gap between the blue rank and the indigo and none of the indigo rank student was a pushover. With that being said, only the first in the blue rank managed to defeat her opponent and immediately got promoted to the indigo rank.
Normally, there were only one hundred indigo badges in the academy with the exception of the dark indigo which was a rare occurrence. Having an indigo badge meant that one was in the indigo rank and in the top hundred which was an honor without the need to explain. The first in the indigo rank would have an indigo badge but this came to a change after the repeatedly draw among the three which made the higher ups make the dark indigo badges for the three since nobody in the indigo rank was close to their strength.
Now the only students who had not challenged each other were the top three students in the Military Academy. The anticipation of the top three's challenges hit another level. There was a sudden heat of discussion among the students with many starting to place bets on their most favorable student. Many grade eleven students were in the favor of Alvin while the grade twelve students were divided among Jason and Taylor. Still, many thot it would be a draw. Mo who was standing with Alvin beside him suddenly asked, "Do you think you'll be able to defeat those two?" "Honestly, I don't know. Although I have improved in that month, the same can be said for them. There is a ten percent chance that I'll win, five percent to lose to any of them and an eighty five percent draw," replied Alvin.
Inside the office of the principal, the seven men were watching the challenges going on in the arena when Charles suddenly asked, "Old Feng, who do you think among the three will win?" "I think Alvin stands the highest chance to win," replied Feng. Paul furrowed his brows and asked, "Why do you think so?" Feng showed a wise expression as he answered, "Although King is currently the strongest in the academy, and you are not to forget that king started training when he was only three. Alvin on the other hand started when he was six and now he's sixteen. Without a doubt he has the highest talent so he might have gone a little further than the two in training and might stand a better chance winning."
"You have a great foresight Feng," praised Seth while the nodded their heads in unison in agreement. "Probably only that little bastard Moses has a higher talent than Alvin in the entire academy," said Feng with his hand on his chin. "Aren't you praising that lad a little way too much Feng. Speaking of that, didn't you plan to teach the lad a lesson, what happened?" asked Josh. "Naturally I have my own plans on that. You need not be concerned," said Feng with an evil grin forming on his face.
Feng suddenly turned his attention to Principal Lee and asked, "The academy has a Must-battle for students who deliberately run away from challenges by admitting defeat without fighting for even a second, right?" The six men who were with Feng widened their eyes. Surely, nobody could managed to escape when targeted by the mischievous mind of this fellow. "Yes, but who will be his opponent?" Principal Lee asked. "Summon King, I need him to do something for me," said Old Feng grinning happily.
"Old Feng, you do not need to use a hammer to kill an ant. Are you planning to have King as the opponent of that lad? That's an overkill! How about we change his opponent? Since he knows not how to fight any green rank student will be able to beat him since he can't admit defeat. King will simply beat him to death," advised Lee. "That kid made sure to make this old man lose face as the one who brought him here, now is the time for this old man to recover his lost face. Also you seem to underestimate that kid a lot. His fleeing ability is the best I've seen for someone of his age," said Feng.
"He won't be able to flee since there is not much space in the arena for him to use to his advantage," said Josh. "He might not know how to fight but his reflexes are faster than those of Alvin and the others. Speed is his greatest strength, I need someone who can beat him. I can't risk with Alvin, he might not be able to cause any harm to Moses let alone others," said Feng. Principal Lee pressed a button under his desk and within no time the secretary came in and greeted, "Old sirs."
"Tell King that he is needed in the office right now," ordered Principal Lee. "On it," responded the secretary as she walked out. King did not have to be on the arena since he was exempted from fighting since he was too strong for any student to take on. He was currently in the library browsing through the records of the best students the academy had ever had since its founding when the secretary informed him to go to the office of the principal. King left as he was wondering what had happened since the principal would rarely summon a student no matter who the student was. Taking his situation as an example, this was the second time he would visit the office of the principal and that was with how he was outstanding.
King got to the office and entered after knocking. The seven men turned their attention to him as he greeted, "Principal, Old sirs." The seven men nodded at him with indifference. "Boy that is the guardian. He has something to tell you and he's the one that called you here," said Principal Lee as he pointed Feng. "Guardian! I pay my respects to the guardian," King's previous indifference had now turned into one filled with respect and he seemed uneasy. "No need for formalities," said Feng as he waved his hands.
After waiting King to recover his lost composure, Feng said, "yeah it's true that am the one who called you here as I need you help in something." "Sir Guardian, a ready to follow any of your orders, command me as you wish!" King said with cupped fist. "I heard you are currently the strongest in the academy and you have no rival. They say even those three did not manage to beat you after ganging up on you, you strength is not that bad but that shouldn't make you feel full of yourself, remember your opponents are not those from the academy but from other countries," Feng made a compliment.
"You flatter me sir, my strength is merely so-so." King knew very well that the man before him would be able to kill him with one strike. The moment he learnt that the man was the guardian, he started feeling so pressured by being there. "No need to be overly humble. I heard you don't take part in the competitions anymore but I want you to do so today. There's somebody I need you to challenge and beat him so bad that that he won't be able to step out of his bed for a month," said Feng.
"Sir, could it be Alvin or those other two?" King asked. "No, it's not any of those," replied Feng. King wondered who it could be then since only those three required him to intervene personally. Any of those three would be able to take care of the issue the guardian had since nobody was their match that is with him as an exception. Feng took out a photo and threw it at King. On taking a look at the picture, King frowned as he said, "I don't know him. I have never seen him."
"He is Moses but most know him as Mo. You might not know him since he joined the academy less than one month ago," "Joined the academy less than one month ago? Is he stronger than those three?" King's seemed to have his interest in the new student. "You might not know but on the first day of the competition he was challenged by a yellow tier student but without even exchanging a single move he admitted defeat and now he is at both red rank and red tier with a red uniform and red badge," explained Seth with a smile.
"Ah…" King's mouth opened but no words came out of it. He was really speechless. If that boy did not dare accept the challenge of a yellow tier student, would he accept his challenge he who was crowned a monster in the academy. "I know what you are thinking but you need not worry about that since it will be a must battle for him and he can't admit defeat," Feng continued, "but don't underestimate him in any way. Let me give a word of caution, the strength of that boy lies in his reflexes and speed, make sure you use your full strength when fighting with him. You might not be able to cause harm to him if you take him easily. That's what I want you to help me with."
"Ok, I'll try my best. What is the allocated time for that?" King asked. "You don't have to worry about that. If you can beat him to my satisfaction in twenty minutes the judge will naturally stop the battle at that moment," said Feng with a serious expression. Even if King was the strongest student in the entire academy, Feng didn't hold much trust in him being able to beat Mo after all that kid kept a low profile such that not even Feng knew his full capability.
"If that's it, then I'll take my leave seniors," bowed King as he prepared to leave. "You may leave but make wait for those three to be done with theirs before you challenge Mo. Also, you should only appear in the arena ground when the battle of those three has reached climax. If you appear earlier Mo might figure out you are there to challenge him. Don't underestimate his ability to flee. The moment he notices something's amiss you won't even know how he disappeared," cautioned Feng.
King left wondering what the student named Mo had done to the guardian to make him ask him to beat Mo that badly. "Do you think the kid will survive the encounter with King?" Seth asked Feng his face full of uncertainty. "What am worried about is that King might fail to teach him a lesson," replied Feng grimly.
Among the instructors in the academy, there were those who were strong and those who were weak. Among the weaker ones, Alvin and the other two could fight a draw with them. King, on the other hand was able to defeat most of the instructors in the school. The only ones he couldn't beat were the five strongest instructors of which he could fight a draw with two of them but lose to the other three. Above the instructors were elders led by the head elder who was the strongest of all. Only the principal of the academy was above the head elder in both strength and seniority. The principal had absolute authority in the academy.
