Chapter 18 - 18.Join

Klaw couldn't believe he had miraculously managed to keep his life. He counted the things he had done these days: fraud, theft, assault, and heart-wounding mockery. Although these actions were not punishable by death, in the Caribbean, where human life was not more valuable than rum, no one could guarantee that they wouldn't provoke someone and end up dead. Just like the sadist Rudolf he met when he was imprisoned, if he fell into his hands, he would definitely be dead.

"Wait, sir, why is it me?" Joe exclaimed in shock, pointing to the mess on the carpet and putting on an innocent look.

"It's not just you," Lord Bard said impatiently, "It's decided, you two hurry up and clean this place up, and then come to find me." He turned around and stretched while walking up the stairs.

"You also have to do it with them, uncle."

Klaw was still questioning Lord Bard's motive when he heard Miss Charlotte's voice, which made him feel soft-hearted, but he also understood who was the master of this place.

"Wait, Charlotte, my niece... I can't do this, I can't stand it..." Lord Bard said nervously, pinching his nose.

"I heard from Duncan that you gave my warehouse at the dock to a distinguished guest." She turned her head and looked at Klaw. "It's him, right?"

"Wait!" Klaw shouted at Lord Bard. "I've never heard anything about a distinguished guest. Are you asking me to work for you? You sly old fox!"

Cold sweat appeared on Lord Bard's forehead, and the big beads of sweat reflected the light, showing an old man's embarrassment in the sun.

"So," Miss Charlotte said coldly, "you lied, didn't you, uncle? What kind of wonderful idea do you have this time?"

"Duncan, Miss Charlotte is tired from her journey, don't bother her with everything," he said to the butler, hoping to maintain the dignity of the head of the family, but his timid image was doomed to fail.

"Sir, I just follow your instructions." Duncan said, "Since I have to listen to Miss Charlotte's instructions, I naturally can't hide anything when she asks me."

"You are too dedicated!" Lord Bard said with a wry smile.

"Uncle, don't think you can get away with this. I'll wait for you in the study, and when you clean up here, come and explain things clearly. Duncan, bring the red tea later." After giving instructions, Miss Charlotte strode up the stairs. Dedicated Duncan silently went to the kitchen to prepare the tea set.

"My niece is as strong as a tiger, I'm afraid it's hard to find a good man in the whole Caribbean who is willing to marry her." Lord Bard shook his head and sighed.

"In my opinion, Miss is a heroine among women, and there must be thousands of good men who are willing to shed blood for her!" Joe praised.

"You still say! It's all because of you, and now we end up like this, Mr. Rocky, such a gold master is gone, you say, what are you going to do, what to do!" Lord Bard said while patting Joe, but for the strong Joe, it was like a massage, and he couldn't feel the pain at all.

"Forget it, didn't you not expect him to join us at all?" Klaw said sarcastically on the side.

Joe and Bard stopped their actions and looked at the thief who was still tied up.

"You are indeed a talent, Klaw, I didn't see wrong in you." Lord Bard said with a smile, then he bent down and untied the ropes tied to Klaw with his own hands.

"Sir, are you going to let him go?" Joe exclaimed in surprise.

"No, our fate is already connected. Mr. Klaw, please go back first and stay in that safe house obediently, don't move, okay?"

After today's turmoil, Klaw had completely calmed down. Lord Bard did not seem like the type to harm others ruthlessly; and Joe was even less so, undoubtedly a simple-minded hothead. Given this, there was only one thing left that Klaw cared about.

"You want me to join you as your distinguished guest. But you still haven't told me what you plan to do."

"Oh, no, I've already told you," Lord Bard said with a faint smile. "Mr. Klaw, I don't know how you managed to steal my gold coin, or where you've hidden it—please don't rush to deny it, let's just consider it a hypothesis—this gold coin is indeed the pirate's treasure, and it will bring forth true evil and reveal unparalleled value to the world. I've been emphasizing this concept these days, but you haven't been swayed. Undoubtedly, you and I are the same kind of people, and we are destined to embark on the same journey. So, please curb your curiosity and don't be eager to understand everything at once; that's absolutely impossible and very unwise."

Klaw looked into Lord Bard's eyes, which were full of seriousness, completely devoid of the usual cynicism. So he nodded, slowly walked towards the door, and after a few seconds, realizing no one was stopping him, he quickened his pace and ran outside.

"Lord, you let him go, what about the carpet?" Joe, pinching his nose, asked Lord Bard.

"Need you ask? I am your lord!" Lord Bard declared loudly, then strode away from the scene as well.
