Chapter 6 - Magic

After their duel, Alia joined Eto in his training with Cedric every day, following the exact same training method. Alia had become noticeably less arrogant after her humiliating defeat, she actively listened to all of Cedrics instructions in hopes of becoming stronger.

"That's enough for today, both of you can head home."

"Yes."

"Alright."

Cedric ended today's training and sent both his son and Alia home so he could head to work. He was quite impressed with both children's progress. They were mastering material that would take a normal person at least 4 to 5 times longer to learn. Cedric wasn't all too surprised with Alia's advancement speed, ever since she lost the duel to Eto she has spent more time learning the sword than anything else. She practiced by herself for hours on end every day, the amount of training she put in would put even official knights to shame. Combining this with her natural talent it was only natural she would improve as fast as she has.

The person that surprised him the most was his son. Eto never trained outside of their allotted training time like Alia did. He never seemed to care about getting stronger or anything like that. Yet, he was still learning just as fast if not faster than Alia. Even in the few sparring sessions and mock duels between Eto and Alia, Eto had come out on top everytime.

Still, Cedric was happy that his students were improving at such an unparalleled speed. With such growth it's only a matter of time until they would master the sword. At this point the only thing that could make them grow stronger would be if they were to awaken a strong magical attribute when they turned 10.

Cedric never doubted that Eto would awaken an attribute. After all, both he and Miranda had awakened one. Awakening a magical attribute is a very rare phenomenon, a child between 2 people without attributes would have a 1 in 20000 chance to awaken magic. A child between a person without an attribute and a person with one would have a 50% chance. A child between 2 people who had awakened an attribute always awakened one.

Most magical attributes are inherited through the child's parents, but on some very rare occasions the attribute can mutate and the child will have a different attribute than either parent.

Cedric had awakened the strength attribute from his father while Miranda had inherited the charm magic attribute from her mother. The strength attribute allowed Cedric to freely increase his strengths up to the limits of his mana quality and quantity. Miranda's charm allows her to increase her charm whenever she wants to.

If a person awakens a magical attribute they will also awaken the ability to feel and manipulate mana. Mana, put simply, is the fuel used for magic. Without enough mana a person will not be able to continue using their magic. With training, people are able to grow the amount of mana beyond what they awakened with. Mana also has differences in strength between one person and another, it can also be grown with training.

Cedric was personally hoping for Eto to inherit his strength attribute. With his talents in the sword combined with the strength attribute, Eto would undoubtedly become an unparalleled swordmaster.

Cedric was also excited to see what kind of attribute Alia would awaken. He was aware that both her parents had attributes but he didn't know which attributes they had awakened. Hopefully it would be one that was complimentary to her swordsmanship.

Both children were only 7 so they wouldn't have their magic awakening ceremony for almost another 3 years.

Even if they didn't awaken a powerful attribute Cedric wouldn't mind, their talents alone would take them far in life.
