Ryan's cheeks burned with embarrassment as he stood there, feeling exposed and humiliated after Sir Martius called him out. At that moment, he couldn't bring himself to meet anyone's eyes, so he quietly lowered his head, too ashamed to say anything else. As the tension lingered, some of the men quickly flocked over to Davina, congratulating her on being the only one who got chosen as Sir Martius had stated. Their voices filled with admiration and respect. The rest of the group, however, remained rooted to the spot, their faces contorted with jealousy and disappointment oozing out of them as they wondered why no one had picked them.
