Chapter 17 - Chapter 10: House of the Phoenix

Aric followed his new housemates to the east wing of the Celestial Hall, where the Phoenix Common Room awaited. As they ascended a spiral staircase, the anticipation of seeing his temporary home filled him with a mix of excitement and curiosity.

Aurora Silverleaf, who had welcomed him earlier, walked beside him. "You'll love it," she assured him with a bright smile. "The Phoenix Common Room is the best place to feel inspired and at home."

House of the Phoenix Common Room:

The room was bathed in warm, golden light, radiating a sense of comfort and security. Red and gold hues dominated the décor, with large windows offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the Starlit Garden below and the rising sun in the distance. This spectacular view was a daily reminder of the Phoenix house's symbol of rebirth and renewal.

The centerpiece of the room was a large fireplace with a mantle carved into the shape of a phoenix in flight. The flames danced with a golden hue, casting a soft glow that illuminated the entire room.

Around the fireplace, comfortable seating areas were arranged with plush sofas and armchairs, encouraging camaraderie and discussion among the house members. The walls were adorned with tapestries depicting legendary acts of bravery and heroism, inspiring all who gazed upon them.

A large trophy case showcased the house's achievements in various competitions and challenges, a testament to the bravery and determination of its members. Nearby, a study area with desks and magical lamps provided the perfect environment for late-night reading and spell practice.

Aric stood in awe, taking in the grandeur of the Phoenix Common Room. Aurora's voice broke through his thoughts. "Come on, let me introduce you to everyone properly."

As they moved around the room, Aric met his fellow housemates:

House of the Phoenix Members:

Aurora Silverleaf - The cheerful and welcoming girl who had first greeted him. She had a knack for making everyone feel at home.

Cedric Blackwood - A tall, quiet boy with a serious demeanor. He had a reputation for being a strategic thinker.

Felicity Goldbranch - A bubbly girl with a constant smile and an infectious laugh. She was known for her kindness and generosity.

Lucian Thornfield - An athletic boy with a competitive spirit. He excelled in magical sports and dueling.

Nora Windrider - A calm and collected girl with a deep affinity for nature magic. She often spent her time in the Starlit Garden.

Orion Stormsinger - A boy with a strong, commanding presence. He was a natural leader and skilled in elemental magic.

As the evening progressed, Aric found himself engaged in conversations and laughter, feeling a growing sense of belonging. The warmth and camaraderie of the Phoenix house were contagious, and he felt lucky to be among such supportive friends, even if only temporarily.

As they were settling down, Cedric Blackwood approached Aric with a curious look. "So, Aric," he began, "do you know where the House of the Wolf common room is?"

Aric could only shrug. "I honestly have no idea. I was just as surprised as everyone else when the stone announced it. All I know is what the headmaster told me—that no one thought it existed."

Cedric nodded thoughtfully. "Well, I suppose it will reveal itself in time. In the meantime, you're welcome to stay here with us."

Aric smiled appreciatively. "Thanks, Cedric. I feel really welcomed here."

Just as the atmosphere reached its peak of merriment, a small magical bell chimed softly, signaling the end of the day's activities. Aurora guided Aric to a comfortable corner where he could rest for the night. "Tomorrow will be another big day, with classes starting. Get some rest, Aric."

Aric nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and exhaustion. As he lay down on the bed, an ethereal light began to shimmer above it. Aric watched in amazement as his name appeared, glowing softly, signifying that this bed was meant for him. The magic settled, leaving his name beautifully inscribed above the headboard.

Cedric, in the bed next to Aric, smiled. "Looks like the academy has officially welcomed you."

Aric grinned, feeling a profound sense of acceptance and belonging. "I guess it has."

With these thoughts, he drifted into a deep sleep, the warmth of the Phoenix Common Room enveloping him like a protective embrace. The next day would mark the beginning of his magical education at Starshade Academy, and he was ready for whatever adventures lay ahead.
