Megan spent a few minutes holding her son close. She was overcome with relief that he was in her arms. They could finally find a way to fix their broken lives.
She knew that this level of action was above her pay grade. Megan had never wished to command armies. She had never wanted to be a warrior. If it was necessary, she would always step up as a Regata but she had no drive for it. Not outside the necessity of the return of her child.
Megan would be perfectly happy to return to the human realm to be a mother and a wife, a friend and a daughter. She wanted to find a way forward with Sam that they could all live with and he wouldn't lose himself. Megan knew they would find a way. The children would tie them together.
She handed Elias to her mother at the sound of Gabriel's raised voice. Getting to her feet quickly, she went to investigate what was happening. It appeared that her husband was yelling at one of the elders.
