A gaseous darkness spreads into cracks that transitions into an opening through thin space as a tall and slender figure wearing a bespectacled suit with a sword strapped to the waist steps into an office room with a long table that stretches as far as the eye can see.
This figure could be described as a man, but there were many things wrong with this depiction. Human-like in appearance. However, there were things disturbingly wrong. Skin so pale it seemed to glow softly, like moonlight. A strange mist seeping off his hair, his skin and in long vapors from their calm breaths. Strange in that it moved strangely, moving away, before returning to the skin or lips of the strange man.
Though, he was not alone in strangeness.
All along the long table laid individuals that had some resemblance to something human, or nothing alike to a humanoid figure, while all had their own presence.
In a way, their presence was akin to the strange mosaic of abstract art that had way too many contrasting and conflicting colors added to it. It was only the strangely strong aura of order that emanated from the very walls and furniture that suppressed the chaotic energies from having a huge impact on the reality of this conference meeting.
A voice bellowed from nowhere and everywhere at the same time, beckoning the strange mist-exuding man to take a seat, "I hope you all have arrived to our 835th Chronal Conference on Planar Shifts."
It was a calm voice, but there was authority there.
"You gather us every single chronal shift." A rude and nasally voice emanated from somewhere along the table, causing some of the more orderly attendees to clench and tense at the indignation. Strangely though, even though the table was impossibly large, the voice seemed to reach every inhabitant... As if the table itself harmonized the voice in a way that everyone could hear it. "We get it! Some existences rise, others fall. Big deal. I'd rather spend this time laying bets on who'll be the dimensional champion for the 5th tier."
"You d a r e make a mockery of The First.. I'd out to cut out that tongue and..." Just as a spritely warrior-esq woman began to speak profanities and curse out the one who spoke, the table became quiet, despite more of the members growing indignant and appearing to curse at each other.
The First coughed softly, the action causing a lot of the disturbance to quiet softly. "Calm down all. His points are valid. These meetings might not have a lot of meetings to the majority of you young folks, but imagine if you will a time before now. Where the chaos of the multiverse went unchecked, unmonitored and many worlds were lost without anyone being able to intercede or help."
"For both the hallowed worlds and the unhallowed, this type of chaos left many factions separated without a chance to grow and affect worthy change. That is why we, the Union was formed. We do not bias the unhallowed and the hallowed, and seek peace at all turns. Us speaking now is a miracle that no one before the great shift could imagine... So I ask you to have patience, that we may have at least this semblance of peace during this time." The old man's words flowed like honey at this time, where before authority reigned. His voice mellowed the tensions and he gained the rapt attention of the people.
Yes, the First had the respect of everyone present.
"In any case, reports show that there is an increase in worlds transitioning to Ascending the Mundane." He continued with a pleasant face. "This is a good opportunity for everyone here, so we've compiled the data and dimensional coordinates. I wish you all pleasant endorsements this chronal period, as there will be many a champion to sponsor."
"Now... let's go on to the topic of concerning Falls from Grace. Let's start with Eudyaloeop....." The old and wise voice continued to lead the conversation, meanwhile the darkly clothed, mist-exuding man gazed at the list of worlds and their details through the pages.
His fingers paused at a single dimension, a faint smile rising on his lips.
The page was titled, "Ascending the Mundane - Earth."
'Interesting...'
