Chapter 1 - The Two “-nist” Met

👱🏻‍♀️

"Congratulations, Lieutenant Allegra!"

I was surprised when I saw that my team had prepared a small celebration for me as I entered the office. I could feel their love and effort in the preparations. How I love these guys.

"Thank you, guys. I really appreciate this. But you know, I wouldn't achieve this if without our help and support." I said it with complete sincerity. We wouldn't solve the unsolved case for many years if not for our teamwork. They just gave me all the credit.

We are a four-girl team, and each of us played a crucial role in cracking the case. Blyana is our hacker; Feyre is our undercover; Ailith is our sniper; and me, Athena Avery Allegra, is exceptionally skilled at analyzing evidence and finding connections that no one else could see. I'm their strategist, always two steps ahead and guiding us to victory.

"Don't be too humble, Avery. Look, you were the one who greatly contributed to this complicated case." said Blyana. She then put her shoulders around me.

"Don't sell yourself short. It wasn't only me who worked hard on solving this case; the team was. So, we should say, 'CONGRATULATIONS, TEAM!' and don't give all the credit to me," I retorted, to which Blyana rolled her eyes. The other members of the team just laughed at her reaction.

"Don't mind this woman, Av. She's just being an oddball. Let's continue this celebration during lunch," laughed Feyre. Blyana punched Feyre, which the latter easily dodged. She looked at Blayana with a mischievous grin. I clapped my hands three times to catch their attention, and it was a success.

"Let's go back to work."

My team got back to their cubicles while still playfully hitting on each other. I shook my head at their playfulness. I laughed while I was also going back to my cubicle.

As you can see and observe, I am a police officer, together with my three friends—Blyana and Feyre at Ailith. We graduated from different universities, but we trained under the same batch, and we formed our friendship there at the training center. It was lucky that we were assigned here in the same office. Although we have different ranks, we don't treat each other as inferior to the other. And one more thing, we also got along with each other because of one thing—being a feminist.

"Hon, I have visitors later. Prepare a lot of foods. And also, if you're done buying at the grocery store, don't go to the mall. I know you." I heard what my dad said to my mom while she tied his tie. They're in their room, and I'm standing right at the door waiting for them to be done preparing.

I saw my mom smile gently and answer her usual replies. "Okay, hon."

My mom loves to go shopping and ends up spending a lot of time at the mall and doesn't even notice the time. Girls really love to spend money.

When she's done with tying my dad's tie, I approach them and kiss my mom's cheek. My dad and I started to walk side by side to descend the stairs while my mom followed us behind.

"Be ready today, Lucas Alexander Axworthy. You're going to be in a high position in the company after this," my dad said sternly to me. But I know he trusts me more than anyone.

I smiled confidently at him. "I was born ready, Dad. I never screwed up in my life." I saw him smiling proudly at me. My mom looked at me like she was also proud of me, but there was a hint of worry in her eyes. She's just being a caring mother.

"See you later, mom." I said as I hugged my mom by the main door of our mansion. Today, we are going to our company because Dad will announce that I will be taking over the position of CEO in our business. I know I deserve it. I worked so hard for this.

I went to my car and unlocked it. And before I hopped in, I looked back to our mansion. My mom is on the outside waving at us. Mom is the perfect wife a man could have. Someday, I will marry a woman who is as obedient as my mother and is not a source of trouble.

Ring…Ring

My attention went to my phone, and I answered immediately the caller without looking to see who it might be.

"Yes?" I said as I went into the driver's seat of my matte black Lamborghini. I didn't join my dad in his car because, as you can see, I have my car.

"Lucas, bro! I heard that the chairman would be announcing the new CEO, which is you today? Congrats, bro." the caller replied. And based on the voice I heard from the other line, I know it's Calvin. He's one of my best friends.

"Yeah, thanks," I answered curtly and nonchalantly. It's nothing new. I'm the next in line to my father anyway.

"This calls for a celebration! Let's go to a bar tonight. I'll call Cassander about this." he said excitedly. It looks like he was the one given the position. Tss. When I tried to comment on what he said, the call had already ended by him. That a**hole.

👱🏻‍♀️

We're currently in a well-known bar that my eldest sister, Fajra Nilsine Allegra, recommended. She said this bar is famous for its drinks. Hmm. Let's just see. We're here because of the afterparty of our celebration for solving the complicated case that was left unsolved for many years. We didn't enjoy much during the lunch break because our Chief of Police called me to his office to congratulate me in person and said something to me about another case.

"What did the chief disclose to you, Triple A?" Ailith asked as she sipped on her whiskey. I tutted at the nickname she gave me—Triple-A. She called me that because my full name started with the letter A's. Blyana and Feyre looked at me with curiosity in their eyes.

"He needs me to do something about another case, but he still didn't tell me what it is. He said he would tell me tomorrow," I answered as I shrugged my shoulders. I picked up my glass of whiskey and drank it.

"…Anyway, we should not talk about work here. We're here to celebrate!" I added and raised my glass in the air. My friends just rolled their eyes but also raised their glasses.

"This is for the best team in MPD! Cheers!" Blyana shouted and clanked our glasses in the air before we drank the contents from it.

We continued our drinking and laughing session until we got tipsy. We decided to go home because we still have work tomorrow. We started to walk towards the exit when suddenly we heard a loud bang and a crash from behind us. The alcohol in our system immediately went out of our bodies as we turned our attention to the turmoil inside the bar.

"Jeez! What troublesome idiots!" I said with an irritated tone in my voice. I scratched my head unknowingly out of annoyance. My friends and I immediately approached them and stopped the fight before it got worse. I stopped both of the troublemakers' fists and pushed them away from each other.

"Who are you, b*tch?! It's none of your darn business!" angrily said the other guy, who looked like a gangster. I just looked at him with my poker face. This arrogant, stupid idiot thinks he's so strong and manly. I looked at the other guy, who was wearing expensive clothes and had already been knocked down on the floor. I shook my head at his situation.

"Don't create a fight here so no one would mind your business," I answered to him, wearing my poker face. I saw his eyebrows meet, and I knew I had successfully irritated him.

"Don't ever think that I won't fight you just because you're a girl. Unfortunately for you, I fight with both." He said with his reddened face from anger and the alcohol. He's like a ripe tomato right now.

I smirked at him and replied, "That's good then. As much as I would like to bash your head on this floor, we're in a public place, so I must refrain for your ego's sake." I crossed my arms and grinned even more when I saw him grit his teeth. That's some little revenge for calling me a b*tch. I heard my friends behind me laugh at what I said.

"You arrogant b—!" I didn't let him finish talking and stopped his fist that came towards me. I looked at him, amused. He was really going to punch me. I grabbed my police badge in my jeans pocket and showed it to him. His face turned pale when the light reflected on my badge. I smiled at him and then waved at my friends to pick him up. The guy was surprised when my friends just quickly picked him up like he was some cotton ball.

"You should go to the station first, girls. I'll go to the other guy to ask how he is and maybe bring him to the hospital if needed." They all nodded in unison at my instructions. Feyre patted my shoulders before they went out together with the guy they picked up from the floor. I waved at them goodbye until Blyana and the guy rode my car, and the other two girls rode their badass motorcycles. I would be the one to ride Blyana's motorcycle.

I looked around the bar to look for the other guy who was knocked down earlier. He was not on the floor already, so I think his friends picked him up when we had the conversation with the gangster-looking guy earlier. I stopped looking around when I found the rich-looking guy at the bar counter together with the two guys who looked like his friends.

I approached them with a friendly smile on my face. They then turned their attention to me. The two guys smiled back at me while the knocked-down guy looked at me with disgust. What the heck is wrong with him?
