Chapter 1 - Death

In the sprawling land of Eldoria, tales of heroism and treachery are as ancient as the forests that whisper their secrets. Among these stories, the legend of Winston Sparrow is one that stirs the hearts of many, not for his strength, but for his enduring spirit.

Winston Sparrow was never considered a typical hero. With a slender frame, meek demeanor, and an aura of quiet introspection, he was often overlooked in favor of more robust adventurers. Yet, Winston possessed a mind sharp as a dragon's fang and a heart as steadfast as a mountain's core. His keen intellect and unwavering determination earned him a place in the renowned adventuring party known as The Silver Blades.

The Silver Blades were a group of formidable warriors, each with their own unique skills and strengths. Led by the charismatic and powerful knight, Sir Aric, the party also included Marcus, the swift and deadly archer, Thorne, the brawny and resilient barbarian, and Selene, the enigmatic and powerful sorceress. Together, they sought to rid the land of Eldoria from the grip of the malevolent Dark Lord Malakar.

Winston, despite his lack of physical prowess, was invaluable to the group. His knowledge of ancient lore and strategic thinking often turned the tide of battle in their favor. However, as the group's victories piled up, so did the arrogance and jealousy within their hearts. They began to see Winston as a weak link, a burden that held them back from achieving true glory.

The fateful day arrived when The Silver Blades found themselves at the threshold of the Dark Lord's fortress. The air was thick with anticipation and dread. As they ventured deeper into the fortress, the walls seemed to whisper Winston's name, sending chills down his spine. He sensed something was amiss, but his trust in his comrades kept his doubts at bay.

In the heart of the fortress, they encountered Malakar, a towering figure shrouded in darkness. The battle was fierce and unrelenting. Amidst the chaos, Winston's mind raced, seeking a way to outsmart the Dark Lord. He spotted a pattern in Malakar's attacks and devised a plan to exploit it. Sharing his plan with his comrades, he expected their support. Instead, he was met with cold, calculating eyes.

"Now, Winston," Sir Aric's voice was devoid of its usual warmth, "we no longer require your services."

Before Winston could react, Thorne's dagger pierced his side. Marcus's arrows pinned him to the ground, and Selene unleashed a devastating burst of magic from the crystal

"Why?" Winston's voice trembled with a mixture of pain and disbelief.

Sir Aric smirked. "You've always been the weakest among us, Winston. We're destined for greatness, and you're just a hindrance. With Malakar's power, we'll become legends."

You're willing t-to ally yourselves with that monster!? I thought I knew you guys..

Knew us? You were never one of us to begin with, never considered you one, you were just of use

Winston's vision blurred as he felt his life slipping away. The last thing he saw was the cold, unfeeling eyes of his former friends as they turned and left him to die.

Darkness enveloped him. For what felt like an eternity, Winston floated in a void, consumed by pain and betrayal. Just as he began to lose hope, a figure emerged from the shadows. Draped in a cloak of black, with eyes like twin stars in the night sky, it was Death.

"Winston Sparrow," Death's voice echoed through the void, "your time has not yet come. Betrayed by those you trusted, your heart burns with the desire for vengeance. I can grant you the power to exact it."

Winston, though weak and broken, nodded. "I want to make them pay for their betrayal."

Death extended a skeletal hand, and a dark flame ignited in Winston's chest. "I give you the power to regress," Death intoned. "You will return to the moment before the betrayal, armed with the knowledge and strength to change your fate."

What did this mean? Can I really take revenge? Winston was deep in thought

Broken and fueled by revenge, Winston didn't care anymore, he needed to come back, he needed to show them he wasn't weak anymore

One thing was for certain, that he wasn't the same man he was when he died, that version of Winston Sparrow was long gone

Death eventually took Winston's hand, giving all the abilities he needed

Winston closes his eyes taking Death's hand, waking up 10 hours before his death
