Morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow on the entwined couple under the sheets. Valerie's head rested on her husband's chest, her fingers tracing gentle circles around his nipple.
"Think our little show yesterday was convincing?" Valerie asked, her voice husky with amusement.
Her husband's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. "More than convincing. You were captivating."
Valerie's giggle vibrated against his skin. "You're biased."
"Perhaps," he admitted, "but our 'audience' seemed persuaded. The doubts should be planted nicely now."
Valerie's hand stilled, her gaze drifting upward to meet her husband's. "And what about our guests or the public? Do you think they suspected anything?"
His expression turned thoughtful. "Hard to say, but we'll keep watching. If it sparks a rumor, it would be even better."
