Old Madam Wright chuckled, a sly glint in her eye. "I promise you, she can't find anyone like me anywhere in the world," she declared.
"In fact, if she retires, she'd still choose to live close to me. In other words, she won't agree to retirement." Old Madam Wright added, puffing out her chest with pride.
Valerie already knew this. Nanny Rosaline had been offered retirement a long time ago but she refused to leave. She had no family to begin with, so she'd long considered the Wright family as her own.
Valerie's heart swelled with forgiveness. Could she ever be angry at her grandmother again for lying or doing anything wrong? No. Even though she felt bad that her grandmother lied about her legs, she was happy that the woman wasn't actually crippled.
"Believe me child. Have I ever lied or kept anything from you?"
