The warm sunlight danced across Ruby's face, highlighting her infectious smile. Mrs. Humphrey's expression softened, her eyes crinkling at the corners.

"I know you're a nutcase, Recca," she said, her tone taking on a subtle playfulness, "will you talk like a human and stop yelling, you old hag?" The words were laced with affectionate teasing.

Decades of friendship had tempered their interactions, allowing them to banter like siblings. Mrs. Humphrey had known Old Madam Wright since their middle school days, and their bond remained strong.

'Oh, you've not seen the last of me, old woman,' Old Madam Wright chuckled. 'My great-granddaughter was kidnapped by your 'good' grandson,' she continued, 'As his grandmother, it is your duty to talk some sense into him,'

"Who is this child you're yapping on about? Wouldn't I know if you were my in-law?" Suddenly, Mrs. Humphrey paused, her gaze snapping to Ruby. "Is her name Ruby?"

'Is she with you?'
