Chapter 99 - A standoff

"How did you find this place?" Valerie's voice was low and even, but a hint of menace lurked beneath as she stared at Zoey, who was blocking her path with her car.

She had gone to get some stuff from the supermarket in the neighborhood. On her way back, she found Zoey's car in front of her gate.

Zoey's eyes sparkled, her expression tinged with amusement. "Let's just say I have my ways." She glanced around the surroundings of Valerie's home and clicked her tongue in disdain. "This neighborhood fits you though."

Valerie's jaw clenched, "Were you stalking me?"

Zoey chuckled, the sound grating on Valerie's nerves. "I wouldn't call it stalking, exactly. More like... keeping tabs."

Valerie's eyes flashed, her anger simmering. She didn't want her small family involved, didn't want them to be bothered. This was her battle, her revenge. But with Zoey here, her husband and daughter might have seen her.
