Mr. Smith's expression remained unyielding. "I always mean what I say, Harry. Our family's reputation will not be tarnished."
His eyes narrowed, boring into Harry's. "If you don't want me to go the extreme, then see to it that the problem is eliminated smoothly."
"I understand," Harry replied, his nod barely perceptible.
Inside, he recoiled at the thought of eliminating Zoey. As a doctor, his instinct was to preserve life, not take it. Moreover, despite his anger and resentment towards Zoey, a spark of affinity still lingered in his heart for her.
Harry couldn't rationalize the contradictory emotions Zoey evoked. Was it the closeness which was forged through years of friendship, laughter, and hardship? Her skillful touch and outstanding experience in the bedroom, which leaves him breathless and satiated? Or perhaps the way she expertly stroked his ego, making him feel invincible and desired?
