Setting: Northern Italy
Time: Late 72 BC
A massive army of 120,000 men, former slaves, gladiators, marauders and deserters, was heading for the Alps.
Just two years earlier, no one in the Roman Empire had expected that the revolt of 70 men at the gladiatorial school in Capua would reach such proportions.
The Senate had tried several times to suppress them, but each attempt had ended in crushing defeat at the hands of those whom Rome considered slaves, women, old men and children. However, they had proven to be a force to be reckoned with.
And who commanded this massive army? The legendary Spartacus.
At that moment, he gathered everyone he could to decide what to do next. He himself wanted to destroy the remaining legions in Northern Italy and cross the Alps so that his followers could gain freedom. When he voiced his thoughts to others, debate began.
"Lord Spartacus, why should we do this if we are not in any danger?" said one of them. "Rome must pay in full for our suffering. We must continue to burn and plunder them until the end."
"We must march on Rome and destroy the Senate," said another.
There were other options, but most of them agreed with these two. Greed and anger at Rome were visible in their eyes. After some discussion, Spartacus replied:
"After listening to you, I have come to a decision: we will return to the south and cause irreparable damage to Rome."
At this point, many began to celebrate.
The next day, everyone gathered and moved south. After a while, a thick fog descended on them, and the entire army disappeared.

Several hundred elite hoplites lined up before the imposing figure of Leonidas I, King of Sparta. He turned to his soldiers:
— I am sure you know why we are here and what our goal is. The great army of the Achaemenid Empire is advancing on us, but are we afraid of them?
Hoplites: — NO!
— Why?
Hoplites: — Because we are Spartans.
— Why are there no walls in Sparta?
Hoplites: — Our spears are our walls, and their borders are sharper.
— Right! And again, who are we?
Hoplites: — SPARTANS!
— THAT'S IT! That's all! That's the right attitude. Now let's move.
After Leonidas' words, they moved towards Thermopylae. Along the way, other Greeks joined them, and their number reached 7,000. When they were already very close to Thermopylae, a fog fell over the army, and it disappeared silently.
