"Should I go first or?..."
It is odd to ask for permission before I do anything. But what else was I supposed to do?! This remains my first proper duel. And with a foreign creature? Yeah no kidding.
"Here is how this will go! You will att-
"Hold on a minute".
I halted with a stretched right hand.
"Before we start, I was told that Laden is the strongest member of your clan. If I defeat him, wouldn't that make me the next strongest?".
"Your point being!".
Laden questioned.
"The chieftaincy role. If I defeat Laden, I want the chieftaincy role.
In layman's terms, I would become the new village chief".
I know this pretty much seems callous of me just waltzing in here and threatening to take them over on the premise that I win a duel with their strongest.
But hey, it is what it is. They were not the ones kidnapped from a normal life and then told to come and rule over a violent race while putting my life at risk.
If they can just bear with me and hand it over to me, I promise I will make it all worth it, see to it that they never regret their decision.
First, I need them to say yes, them to be my first race conquer so that I can get this all over with.
"What say you chief? Are you willing to relinquish?... Give up your position to an outsider on the basis of winning a duel?!".
"You sound so sure you will win".
While I faced the chief awaiting his answer, I was interjected from the side by the goblin called master.
I don't think Master is his real name. Maybe like an alias name or something. Then again, I don't see how the near-death goblin can be anywhere close to master.
Perhaps when he was in his prime?! Sounds plausible.
"Isn't that to be expected? I operate under the basics of trusting in myself and my capability to do anything".
Oh please. I can't believe a time would come when I would stand here with all this cringy speech coming out of my mouth.
"So chief, what do you say?! I win the duel and you give up your title and authority to an outsider".
I can't imagine what would be going through the chief's head right now.
Having his position lie on a duel that doesn't even concern him. If you ask me? That is a ridicule to his title as the leader of a clan.
"Originally, Laden being the strongest member of our clan should have been the leader, not I.
If he is willing to go along with the trade, I see no reason why I shouldn't consent to it".
Am I surprised? Definitely.
Only if I wasn't the power-craving type. I don't see myself giving an easy go-ahead to a decision that could result in relinquishing me of all authorising rights I hold. A decision that wasn't told to me beforehand? Arrived without my consent?!
This chief arouses the emotional side of me, allowing me to feel nothing but pity for him.
I know I shouldn't, but thinking about it feels sad. Knowing that at the end of it all, you are nothing but a puppet of the real deal.
"Are you sure about this?! Handing your position over to an outsider?".
I am all for having it easy to gain what I want but is this supposed to be normal?
Looking at me, it is obvious I am no goblin. Still, would they be okay with having me as a Figurehead?!
I had thought about it earlier and discovered it required much more thinking to ponder over.
"The outcome of the duel has yet to be decided. Confidence is good, but going overboard can cost you more than you can realize".
I was preached to by Laden who retained his zealous certitude.
"Fine, I will keep that in mind. So how is this going to go".
"You attack me, I respond, the case continues until one of us is down".
So basically, an all-out brawl without any rules and regulations attached. Good to know.
Looking at his stance, I can see him ready to counter the moment I make mine.
Regardless of what is done, I can't take him on in a sword fight. It will be my inevitable loss if I do so.
His statistics say he is a swordsman, a ranked one at that. While I am nowhere near the learning phase.
The katana is just for show, I need to be mindful of other ways to get a stand in this.
'Voice!'.
Yes! Relic Theop-
'The statistics say he is a fire attributer. Did it not?'.
It Did!
'And krevin over there is an earth attributer'.
I assumed he was when I saw how he manipulated the earth into his desired shape.
Yes! He Is!
'And like you said, I am an aspect owner of the attribute type category. Right?'.
Yes, You Are. Is There A Reason For The RoundAbout Question
'No big deal. I was just wondering; Laden and Krevin are attribute owners of fire and earth. And as said, I am also an attribute owner.
Only I wonder; exactly what attribute do I have claim over that defines me as an attribute type aspect owner?'.
