Chapter 18 - A Rare Find

'Hundred percent is the highest synchronization ratio one can have to their aspect, right?'.

Yes. 100% Aspect Ratio Indicates Absolute Familiarity With The Aspect, Allowing Them Access To All Borders Of Techniques And Forms Under Their Owned Aspect

They Are Also As Rare As They Are Difficult To Contend With

Finding A 100% Aspect Synchronization Ratio Is The Same As Searching For A Pin In The Middle Of The Ocean

Considering I have an enhanced eyesight that can let me see faster than my body can react; I wouldn't think much of searching for a needle in the middle of the ocean.

But I get the gist either way.

'In a nutshell, Laden is a genius amongst all existing genius kind?'.

Yes. He Is A Valuable Catch That Would Prove Beneficial To Your Goal

'Good to know. And what about me? Comparing my synchronization ratio and measuring my abilities to Laden

Who would you say is the stronger of the two?'.

---

Laden Is An Exceptional Genius. A Product That Comes By Once In A Full Moon. A Valiant Resource That Topples Thousands If Not Millions Of Force Users. A Rough Gem That When Bridled, Is Worth More Than The Price Of Kingdoms

'Hey, I get it, he is awesome. There is no need for the unnecessary praise'.

Why the long chanting when I asked only a question?

You Don't Get It.

While Laden Is All Of That, It Is You Who Have Been Chosen As The Appropriate Person To Lead

'Is that supposed to make m-

"Theo! Theo!".

I was called back to reality by the incessant voice of Krevin.

"Oh, my bad. What were you saying?".

"Is there something wrong with you".

He looked worried. Despite that rough face of his, I could see past that to discern his worry.

"This must be because of the duel. I told you it is a bad idea. Laden is not one to be tak-

"Look Krevin. I appreciate the concern but I will be fine. This is something I have to do, win or lose".

I shunned him down with hardened resolve. I can't have him spilling words that would put me into a state of panic.

What I need right now is a calm state of mind ready and made up to battle Laden. Not a shaky unstable mind that could fall apart at the slightest sight of a misconception.

Even if I wanted to, I can't just back out of this duel.

Doing so would ruin my reputation, possibly label me as a coward to the members of their clan.

I can't let that happen.

Since it was silent, I sneakingly checked up on Krevin's expression. He looked like I had done him bad.

Was I too harsh? No, no way. That was the right amount of action to get my point across.

If I did not do it that way, he would only keep on bothering me to not fight.

I understand he is worried or something, but I can't allow that. There needs to be a line where my opinion would not be questioned or looked down on.

I don't know why I think that way but it just has to be that way. Right!!

"Krevin".

I called with a light tap on his shoulder.

"In this world and as a man, there are things you can't run away from".

"A man?!...".

"That's right, a man. You are one too and so am I".

He looked at me with bewildering eyes and at that moment, I knew it; he looked up to me.

"As a man you need to face dangers not run from them, confront obstacles not avoid them. Only then will you be able to hold your head up high and say; Indeed, I am a true man".

I don't know what it is I am spouting. I bet sounded really cool right now.

At this exact moment, I abruptly got up and dramatically made for the exit like I believed a real man would.

It is like the voice said. It is I who have been chosen to lead. So I have to do just that, lead with valour.

...

Before I knew what was happening, I found myself standing at the centre alongside an armed goblin, surrounded by packs of goblins awaiting a show.

When I say everyone, I mean every single goblin in their clan is present here. That is not to exclude the chief and the master.

My opponent, Laden. He walked up to me looking all smudged and confident.

He had a sheathed sword on his right, his upper body bare and his lower body worn in an animal hide.

"Uhm. So how is this supposed to go".

I tried to look as cool and natural as possible. He cannot be the only one with a confident look.

"You are going to fight me bare-handed?!".

"Oh, don't worry about that".

Showing him my right hand, I materialized my katana. I made sure to do it so dramatically that it had them agape and stunned.

"How about now, will this do for a duel".

My remark had me demonstrating the shiny silver lining of the katana's edge.
