The entire day Maiko and Taire swam around in the ocean. Maiko spent most of his time snorkelling around the sandy ocean floor, whereas Taire did paddleboarding and attempted, and failed, at doing handstands underwater. As the sun started to set against the horizon, Taire and Maiko bundled up in their beach towels and each grabbed a beer from the esky, watching as the sky slowly faded from orange and pale pink, to a dark blue speckled with bright, white stars.
Taire is absolutely obsessed with stars and all their formations, so of course he had to point them all out to Maiko. Not that he noticed, but Maiko was watching Taire the whole time he was talking; the way his hair shone like a halo in the moonlight, the way his pale skin glistened like porcelain with each freckle standing out. But what he liked the most was the way his eyes looked. His beautiful purple eyes glittered with the reflection of stars, making it look like the night sky itself.
Before they had both even realised it nearly 2 hours passed of Taire talking about space and stars while Maiko admired his face. Taire turned to smile at Maiko, oblivious to the dreamy look on his face. "I guess we should get home before we get a cold." Taire said as he stood up, stretching his lanky arms above his head. Maiko snapped out of his daze and stood up too, picking up the esky as he goes. The walk back to the apartment is quite short, but they both work up a sweat due to the smothering heat in the air from the heatwave. "God, going to the beach was such a good idea." Taire groaned out before dashing towards the bathroom. "I call dibs on the first shower!" Taire called out before closing the door.
