It feels so weird to be in a room filled with a lot of rich kids. There's something so strange about being in a classroom that is way better than the one at his old school. The board is so clean, that you can see your reflection on the floor, the desks are neat and are arranged perfectly. Money is being put into this school to ensure the comfort of its students.
His old school did not care about the student's comfort they just wanted to teach the students and go back to their respective homes. He's impressed actually but he still doesn't understand why God would want him to be here. He thinks it would be much better if God made him a Hollywood star right now. He is tired of school.
But this school is great. He thinks, at least Wendy's loving it because she hasn't stopped smiling since she got here. She sits next to Angelo with her teeth out, she waves at the gothic girl in ecstasy and the confused gothic girl can only but glare at her.
She leans over to Angelo. "This is exciting, isn't this exciting?" and Angelo can tell that Wendy is truly excited. She is not hiding it and he doesn't think she's trying to hide it. She is excited about this change even though she has graduated from high school already.
She has watched a lot of high school movies and to her being here feels like a fairytale. Angelo doesn't think there's anything magical about being in high school and he feels bad that Wendy's going to figure that out. Yes, that's right, Angelo isn't going to destroy her excitement or joy. She's going to leave it to her to find out. She seems like she's having a good time.
And JJ does as well because he walks into the room with Grace next to him. Angelo will not be surprised if JJ becomes the first in the group to date someone here. He's the ultimate flirt and he's very handsome. His charisma is not hidden and he's one of the funniest people Angelo has ever met.
He can't help but notice the other jocks giving JJ a death stare as they stand behind him.
What's their problem? Angelo thinks because there's this guy not that taller than JJ looking at JJ like he wants to start a fight. Angelo prays that he doesn't because JJ is going to beat him up.
"What's wrong with this guy?" the guy asks his other jock friends but JJ doesn't hear because he's too busy flirting with Grace, licking his lips and rubbing his hands.
"Hello, excuse me can you please walk faster people are trying to get into class." the white guy asks.
"Apologies bro, my bad," JJ says with a smile on his face, he moves aside for the others to walk in. Before walking in the white guy gives JJ the stare and he shakes his head.
"I am not your bro," he says under his breath. He almost stops on his track when he sees Angelo sitting in the front seat. Angelo continues to stare at him, his eyes not leaving him.
"Where did all these people come from?" the guy asks his friends and they all laugh.
Jerk.
JJ and Grace finally walk into the class and they sit next to each other at the back. JJ's eyes have not left Grace at all. Angelo kind of ships those two.
Chris sits quietly, he's not conversing with anyone or even flirting with anyone. When he looks up he sees Angelo looking at him. He winks at him and Angelo rolls his eyes shaking his head and looking forward. He might look like he doesn't care about that wink but deep down he wants to scream and just kiss Chris right then and there. He's so unrealistically hot. And the girls around Angelo know this.
They're whispering to themselves as to how hot Chris is, his handsomeness isn't the only thing that draws their attention but the fact that he's mysterious and quiet.
Angelo can feel that pain again, the feeling that he doesn't want anyone looking or even talking about Chris.
A feeling he told himself to stop. He's not Chris' type, it's pretty obvious because Angelo thinks he wants Kelsey since he thinks that she and her boyfriend are going to break up. He doesn't blame Chris, Kelsey is beautiful.
"Alright alright alright. I'm here, sorry I'm late." A tall handsome young man with brown hair rushes into the classroom. He's wearing a white shirt, brown jacket, brown pants and black and white shoes.
"Mr. B!" Kelsey's boyfriend hails him. And people laugh.
"It's nice to see you too Brandon." he freezes when he sees Angelo up front. Angelo doesn't want things to be awkward between them so he just waves.
"Hi."
"Well, hi—oh yes, I forgot. We have new students." he is able to identify the new students with quickness as his eyes go from Wendy to JJ to Chris. "The foster siblings. Welcome to Sunnyville High. I am your literature teacher Mr. Daniel Bowen but you can call me Mr. B like Brandon does."
Brandon gives him a thumbs up.
"How about you introduce yourselves?" he gestures for Angelo to start first.
"Oh." he stands. "Uh, hi I'm Angelo Hernandez, I love music and I love making friends. You all look amazing by the way."
"Aww he's so cute." someone says.
He hears someone laugh." Aww little Spanish Mexican boy." someone says and Angelo turns to see that it's the guy who was looking at JJ with disgust. He says something to Angelo in Spanish and he and his friends laugh. Angelo grimaces because hearing this white boy speak Spanish is like hearing a cat scratching a board.
"I'm sorry but your Spanish is horrible, atrocious," Angelo says, now he's the one with a grimace on his face and everyone bursts into laughter.
"How does it feel to look stupid Xander?" a girl asks and there's more laughter and Angelo giggles before sitting.
"Uh." Mr. Bowen tries to stifle his laugh. "Uh, okay. Next."
Wendy stands excitedly.
"Geez, calm down female Jackie Chan." someone says which leads to a whole lot of people laughing.
"Jackie, cut it out." Mr. Bowen warns. "Please begin."
Wendy breathes in and out. Angelo can tell she's a little hurt by that comment, but it isn't going to bring her down. She still keeps her smile. Angelo admires that about her, how confident and carefree she is.
"Hi everyone." she waves. "I'm Wendy Wang. I love high school movies, Clueless is my favourite."
"AS IF!" Kelsey and some of her cheerleader friends say in unison and they giggle to each other. Wendy does as well.
"I also love making new friends and I'm a chill person. It's nice to meet you guys."
"Nice to meet you too Wendy!" the girls say and Wendy smiles to herself because she feels loved by them. Angelo thinks that this girl needs to be protected at all costs, but he remembers these people are the ones who need to be protected. Despite how petite Wendy looks she's a strong badass who can easily kill demons.
"Nice to meet you, Wendy." Mr. Bowen says.
"Guess it's my turn," JJ says confidently. And he stands up rubbing his hands like he always does, a habit of his that will not die down. "Yo, I'm James Jones but my friends call me JJ."
"Hey JJ." the girls say in a flirty way and they giggle to themselves. Some of the guys look at themselves in annoyance, they are jealous of JJ, Angelo has noticed and he loves that they are, which proves they see JJ as a threat. "I love music, mostly hip hop. I love my car Crystal she's a beauty and I can take some of you on a ride if you want," he says to Grace in particular. He even winks at her.
Grace rolls her eyes whilst still blushing. "I'm a very chill and fashionable guy. Feel free to come to me for fashion tips." he sits down.
"Nice to meet you JJ. And uh, you must be next." The whole class turns to look at Chris. The class is quiet. It's as if Chris has cast a spell on all of them and they're all bent to his will. The way he just sits there and narrows his eyes at other people.
"I'm Christopher, Christopher Benson." he doesn't say anything else, he doesn't even stand up his butt is still on his chair. Everyone waits for him to say something else but he doesn't.
"Is that all?" Mr. Bowen asks and Chris nods.
"Pretty much," he says.
Mr. Bowen nods. "Okay, Christopher welcome to Sunnyville High, all of you. I am also in charge of the glee club if you want to be in the club you can find us in the Choir room every Friday."
Oh, Angelo is going to be there.
"That club's for fags." he hears someone say. He doesn't bother to turn around to see who said that because he already knows what demographic says that.
Luckily Mr. B didn't hear him. Or maybe he did but chose to ignore it.
"Okay, we are going back to where we stopped in The Great Gatsby last wee—" Mr Bowen stops talking when there's a loud thud on the door. Someone has just crashed.
The door swings open revealing a boy wearing a green shirt, underneath a sleeved brown shirt, baggy cargo pants and sneakers with a skateboard on his right hand. He has brown skin, pink full lips, honey-brown eyes and a diamond-shaped face. His hair is curly and this has to be the prettiest boy Angelo has ever seen.
"Pedro, nice of you to join us."
"Sorry Mr B. I—"
"What is it this time? You fought a racoon?" the class erupts in laughter.
"Now, Mr. B my life does not revolve around a racoon." Pedro laughs. "But yeah a racoon broke into the house again." everyone laughs and Mr. Bowen shakes his head.
"Are you okay?"
"Do you mean did that thing destroy my drums? No I am not okay Mr. B."
"I'm so sorry about that Pedro."
Pedro waves him off. "It's fi—" Pedro pauses when his eyes land on Angelo. Both Angelo and Pedro look at each other for a long period.
"Pedro meet Angelo he's new." Mr. Bowen says.
"You have a new Mexican buddy to be speaking Spanish with buddy," Xander says and his friends laugh like they were programmed to laugh in queue like robots once Xander makes a joke.
"I'm not Mexican I'm Brazilian dick head."
A collection of "oohs." erupts in the room.
"You don't have to be snarky about it Jesus. Silva take a chill pill."
"Alright, Xander that's enough. Pedro, please take your seat. We have a lot to do before the bell rings."
Pedro looks at Angelo one last time before going to find his seat.
Chris looks at Pedro up and down and he doesn't know why he feels this way but he doesn't like Pedro and there's something iffy about him.
"So, The Great Gatsby, let's begin."
As for Angelo, he thinks he has a new crush because of course he does.
