This was after the meeting with my mother, her coven, and the others who had arrived.
The tension of that gathering lingered in the air, like a heavy mist that refused to lift. I had escaped to one of the quieter parts of the castle, needing a moment to process everything.
That's when Shane found me as if he'd been waiting for the right moment to approach.
"All this time, you were a wizard, and I had no idea," I said to him, crossing my arms. Shane had been a familiar face for years, someone I never really thought much about beyond the surface. Just a boy who delivered letters to my mother, or so I thought.
"Yeah. I was delivering letters though, but not the kind of letters that you might think," he replied with a smirk that made me roll my eyes.
Shane was attractive, sure. Tall, with those chiseled features that made most women swoon.
