Three months later...
The moment Amelia's pained cries echoed through the room, I felt a mixture of excitement and fear, my heart pounding in my chest.
I had fought battles and faced down demons, but nothing compared to this.
Waiting for the arrival of our child.
My hand gripped hers as she bent down because of another contraction. Her strength was unmatched, even in this vulnerable moment.
Sweat glistened on her forehead, and despite the pain on her face, she was radiant. I leaned down, whispering words of encouragement, though my voice trembled.
"You're doing great, love. Almost there."
Then, in an instant, the room was filled with the sound of a tiny yet powerful cry. The healer lifted our son, swaddling him quickly before placing him into Amelia's arms. Tears blurred my vision as I looked down at the tiny bundle, his eyes blinking up at us with the same intensity I'd seen in Amelia countless times before.
