(Damien)
My mind was a mess. I couldn't remember anything; nothing made sense.
I tried to fight, but it wasn't enough. Every breath felt shallow, every thought slipping away before I could grasp it. I blinked, struggling to stay conscious, but it was like I was drifting between realities, trapped in this haze that refused to let me go.
There was something wrong. I could feel it in my bones. But I didn't know what. Couldn't understand what.
I felt the pull of the tree, its deep, ancient roots binding me to something far beyond myself.
I'd thought this connection would help in the war, to shield the tree from the demon, but now… it was suffocating. Holding me hostage.
The fog in my mind thickened, like an endless weight pressing down on me.
Then, through the blur, I sensed a presence. It was different, familiar yet distant.
