"Everyone, get in position!" King Alastair's voice rang out, breaking through the silence.
Immediately, we moved. My heart pounded in my chest as I, along with the other witches, began casting a protection spell over all of us.
Our magic flared to life, a barrier of light wrapping around everyone like a shield.
We took our stances, weapons ready, magic moving around us. The tension was suffocating as we stood still, waiting for the demon to make its first move. My eyes were locked on him, my breath shallow as I tried to anticipate his next step.
He stood there, unnaturally still, his white eyes scanning the battlefield. Then he tilted his head, sniffing the air. It was such an eerie, deliberate movement, like a predator focusing on its prey. My stomach twisted, and it was unease digging its way under my skin. What was he looking for?
And then… he broke our spell.
Just like that.
