"Not only weak but seemingly a pretty old model as well. Shocking that is the case given how you could not even defend against an attack like that. It's embarrassing that we are seemingly from the same generation as well," the vice leader said, lifting Cami up by her hair.
"You are not serious, are you?" their leader asked.
As second in command, the vice leader was a war veteran mecha that had lived through countless encounters. How they ended up in the place where they were found, and then after funding for their restoration and repairs, the war veteran mecha agreed to follow them, thus becoming the vice leader of the group the two of them had formed. Mecha of that era, or at least close to it, Cami was actually an even older model than they were, but they could tell that just by assuming. Because they knew she was an old model like themselves, they assumed she must be from the same generation.
However, grabbing Cami's hair like they did would prove to be a mistake, and one that the vice leader of this group, which had attacked Page's village, would not live long enough to regret. The moment they did this, their eyes went vacant. The contact with Cami directly drained them of not just all their power but continued until they were no longer able to function.
The last action the vice leader did was drop Cami back onto Page and Crater.
A strong breeze then blew by as they fell over, their eyes now just a pair of black orbs, with no signs of life coming from them anymore—a fact that freaked out their leader. Cami then stood up, her eyes no longer fully lit up as before. Instead, they were white as she stood, and then her head tilted toward the leader and the rest of their group. Seeing that she had somehow taken out their vice leader merely through touching her, the others attempted to run. The key word here was "attempted," as the moment they were seen moving, they did not run but instead fell over—lifeless mechas, devoid of all power, just like their vice leader. That was because, in front of them, Cami was standing there menacingly with her back turned. She had moved from being behind them to being in front of them in an instant.
The leader then wanted to run, but in the next instant, their body went fully limp as Cami held them up by the head before dropping what was now a lifeless corpse to the ground. Before she stopped moving again herself, her non-glowing white eyes returned to just being gray orbs instead.
The villagers were able to slowly recover from the attacks, as they were seriously harmed at one point but, given enough time, managed to recover enough to deal with those that were hurt more seriously—either because of the attacks they suffered or because of age. However, some had died because of the method of attacks used on them and the depth of their wounds.
How Cami was dealt with, though, was by everyone keeping their distance from her as they did not fully understand what she was. They knew she was not like the former vice leader, yet direct contact with her seemed dangerous given what happened to both the vice leader and the leader of the raiders.
Then there was what had happened with Page and Carter. However, rather than losing their lives instantly like everyone else who came into direct contact with Cami, both of them were seemingly still alive. There was something that informed them Page and Carter were still alive, but how and why were beyond their understanding or knowledge to convey properly.
Though the villagers did not know how to deal with Cami at first, rather than just leave her where she was standing, they placed a white shirt on her that was large enough to cover the majority of her body, minus her legs, but with sleeves long enough to cover her hands. This was how she was moved from being outside into the village leader's place with a dolly. As for why they treated her with such care, they were not exactly sure. They just felt it was the right thing to do for her. Many wrote it off as their way of thanking her for defending the village as she had, and possibly even for defending Page and Carter earlier.
Page and Carter were also kept in the village leader's place. There was no clue what was wrong with them; all they knew was that the two of them were not dead for some reason. Despite everything that could show or say otherwise, the villagers all just seemed to know that the two of them were alive, at least. The one looking after the two of them was Carter's mom, who also served as Page's guardian—the one who found her all those years ago, taking her into her home to raise her alongside her son.
Carter's mom also looked after Cami, though she did not know how to feel about the gray mecha girl at the moment. It seemed that Cami had most likely saved them from something or someone after they found her. It was just a gut feeling that she and all the other villagers shared about Cami at the moment. She avoided direct contact with her at all times when checking up on her after doing so for her son and his friend. Despite raising Page, she did not see her as the daughter she never had, but more so as the lifelong friend of her son, as Page had grown up alongside him. Her views on Page's status as a member of the village were the same as her son's, as they both saw and treated Page as though she belonged there, despite having come from outside the village. She was keeping watch over the both of them just await for what was going to happen next
