Chapter 39 - Chapter39: The Assault on Andros

The system's voice came coldly: "You must become strong enough to control the power I have given you. Otherwise, this power will only bring disaster. Have you forgotten why I sealed the power of the wine god?"

Linley asked unwillingly: "At least tell me, what is suitable as a slingshot bullet?"

The system seemed impatient: "There are only a few things around you, I have already hinted very clearly. If you still can't find it, it can only mean that your intelligence is not enough. If you are not intelligent enough, you can switch to being a Rager, you just happen to have learned the berserk skill."

Linley didn't want to become a Rager. He exited the spiritual world and began to check the items on his body. His clothes and pants were obviously unsuitable as bullets, and he had already tried the grapes. The grape vine slingshot's matching grape bullets didn't need to be tried again. However, he had another kind of grape on him, the Dionysus grape he had grown himself.

He tried putting the Dionysus grape on the slingshot and shooting it at the sea. Unfortunately, the Dionysus grape split in the air and had no power after it hit the sea. Despite its deliciousness, the Dionysus grape was unsuitable as a bullet.

A suitable bullet must be both hard and have a regular shape. Suddenly, Linley thought of something that met the conditions—Pandora's tears. Mermaid tears turn into pearls, which are not only round and solid but also flawless. He took out a pearl, put it on the slingshot, drew the string full and shot it at the sea. The pearl drew a white line and directly shot into the depths of the sea, at least ten meters or more.

Water has a high density, even if bullets are shot into the water, they lose their killing power after only three or four meters. However, the grapevine slingshot combined with the mermaid tears could actually shoot into the water for ten meters, its power exceeding that of ordinary rifle bullets.

Grape bullets have no direct killing power and can only make enemies fall into a drunken state, but the mermaid tears have extremely powerful killing power, and one shot is a bloody hole. Unfortunately, Linley only had a limited number of mermaid tears, a total of twelve, and he had just used one for a test shot, leaving him with eleven.

Linley wished he had let Pandora cry a little longer, knowing how useful her tears would be, but it was too late, the pier was already in sight.

Andros had many piers, Nemo chose a military pier. The Roman fleet had already sailed, and there were few ships at the military pier, which made it easier to attack or defend. In comparison, the civilian pier had many ships, with merchant ships and fishing boats mixed together. If a merchant or fisherman rammed their ship into them, it would be very troublesome.

When the patrol team on the pier spotted the arrival of the Nemo, they initially didn't notice anything unusual and didn't even raise the alarm. They ran straight to the ship, shouting: "Who allowed you to dock here? This is a military pier, leave immediately, or the fine will bankrupt you!"

However, as they approached, they noticed the bloodstains on the ship and the fierce aura of the crew, and immediately raised their shields and went on guard.

At that moment, Bavaria had already jumped over, a whirlwind strike that cut four or five patrol members in half. The remaining patrol members, although they avoided the attack range, did not fight back or call for help, but turned and fled.

Bavaria quickly caught up to them and cut them all down. Then, more wine god believers rushed down from the ship, heading straight for the Governor's Mansion of Andros.

The Nemo originally had over a hundred crew members. Although no one died in the battle with the Roman warships, more than a dozen were injured and remained on board to recover.

In addition, more than twenty people were responsible for guarding the prisoners of war, leaving only about seventy people able to fight ashore. Attacking a large island like Andros with so few troops was simply insane, especially considering the governor's mansion had more than seventy servants.

However, the assault team was not only those seventy people, but also dozens of priests of Dionysus who were saved from the ship. Although they had not received combat training and their combat effectiveness was limited, they had just escaped death and were all in high spirits. Armed with swords and shields they had taken, they took the lead and charged straight towards the governor's mansion.

When the assault team arrived at the governor's mansion, the guards were still unaware. They shouted in anger, "You country bumpkins, this is the governor's mansion! Get out!"

Andre responded loudly, "The Roman governor is not my governor!"

The guards recognized Andre and were horrified. "Andre, how did you get back? Didn't they feed you to the sharks?"

"But I didn't die, I came back!" Andre roared. He was a local and had many connections with the local elite, so the guards knew him. It was unimaginable to these guards that Andre was just a piece of shark bait in their eyes.

Andre's previous peaceful life seemed like an illusion. The Romans were always sharpening their knives, ready to strike at any moment. Thinking back on the past, Andre felt not nostalgia but a wave of fear, followed by burning anger, as if he had drunk the strongest wine.

"Die!" he roared, smashing the captain of the guard's head with a stick. The others quickly rushed forward and instantly dealt with the guards at the gate. Despite the closed gate, some had already stormed in and clashed with the guards.

Linley heard a prompt in his ear, that Andre had actually entered a frenzied state, even without drinking any wine.

The system explained, "Entering a frenzied state does not necessarily require drinking alcohol. It's just easier to do so after drinking." Linley didn't have time to think further, he followed the main force into the governor's mansion and watched as they one by one killed the guards of the governor's mansion.

The governor's mansion itself was a fortress, built very solidly, with many guards, around forty or fifty. If the gate was closed, even hundreds of soldiers would find it difficult to break in, let alone the seventy fishermen and dozens of priests of Dionysus Linley brought with him.

However, the guards, used to a peaceful existence, were unprepared for the attack. They did not immediately close the gate when they saw someone approaching, allowing the priests of Dionysus to easily rush in.

After entering, they did not quickly gather and use the terrain to resist, but were instead bewildered and lost. The priests of Dionysus attacked them in groups, beheading and crushing them. They were outnumbered and quickly cut their heads.
