Chereads / From Evil Duke to an A-Rank Hunter / Chapter 4 - Seven Nation Army

Chapter 4 - Seven Nation Army

"Hunter's Unity officer Abyasa Reinhard speaking. Are you the one who defeated these orcs?"

"...Well." Andrius spoke hesitantly. He is sure the officer wouldn't believe him if he tries to deny it. Especially with his blood blotted patient robe. The newly awakened mage scoffed at the thought.

"It doesn't matter who killed them. That's not why you're here." Andrius stated sternly.

Abyasa broke eye contact with him, flustered. His eyes glanced into the healers rushing in to maintain the lifeforce of never-ending slumber patients. "Are there any other survivor?"

[Andrius used Relentless courage of invisible authority lv. 13]

The mage lifted a few pebbles and ordered them to form a path that lead to his patient room.

"My mother... she is hiding in the bathroom of that room." Andrius revealed. He wasn't sure whether to trust people from the Hunter's unity or not. But, for now, his priority is to get his mother into safety.

"Ah, she might throw a fit when you take her away. Just knock her out, it's for the best."

"....I'll see to her." Abyasa frowned. He regarded the young mage as impudent towards his mother. Yet decided not to drag the matter and walked on the pebble path. After a few step, he stopped before asking Andrius again.

"You weren't registered in our database. Are you a newly awakened hunter?"

"..!" Andrius startled at the officer's remark.

The braided man took out a measuring tool with crystal attached at the end of it. He pointed it towards Andrius in a flash. The tool beeped loudly, signaling that it has done measuring. Abyasa eyes widened as if he refused to believe what he had seen.

"You're an A-rank..."

"Yeah? what about it?"

"No, it's just-" Abyasa gulped down some saliva. He was nervous, unable to find the right words to describe the situation. "You're an A-rank by theory. In reality, the manameter showed you're one number away from being an S-rank..."

That didn't surprise Andrius. He himself wondered why isn't his skill classified as S rank. He jumped down from the pile of orcs. "We can sort that later. In the mean time, is it possible to borrow these?" The mage pointed at orcs leftover weaponary.

"These weapons can be sold in high price. That being said, Hunter's Unity doesn't strive for profit like guilds. We are a governmental organization." Abyasa turned his back on Andrius while waving his hand. Giving a green light that the mage is free to do as he please.

"Well, if you say so. I'll help myself then. "

Andrius glared at the broken window. It's where the orcs infiltrated the hospital hall came from. From there, he witnessed how the Hunter's Unity officers struggled to evacuate survivors and fight against calamity simultaneously.

'Can I do this? Am I being cocky? What if I harmed more than I save?' Andrius contemplated in his irresolution. His doubt stemmed from his insecurity of not being able to compete with Rae Elixis. The original owner of the skill.

No matter how he tried in his past life. He never caught up to her. He chased his sister in the shadows. He looked up to her and resent her for having a sky-earth starting point compared to him.

"No, I promised her...to redeem myself." The mage shook his head. He promised the sister in his vision that he'll somehow turned a new leaf in this life.

Ding!

The system sent him another message. As if the system responded to his decision, it gave him one more reason.

[Congratulation! You have unlocked karma point system. Karma points can be earned from saving people. Owned points can be invested to stats of choice]

[Karma point: 18]

Eighteen. The number of rooms in the hospital hall. Particularly the never-ending slumber hall. Exactly the number of people he just saved by fighting the orcs.

Andrius smirked before laughing manically. "Hahaha! Yes! Now we're talking!"

"I'll put everything into intelligence for now."

The status number behind the letters INT changed into 31 + 5. Andrius no longer hide his ecstasy the moment his body absorbed more mana to adjust with his new stats.

'Why do I even doubt myself for? I seized that Rae Elixis skill. The skill that I would die for in my past life. Just you wait, Rae. I'll be an even better mage than you ever dreamt of!'

"Hey, on second thought, maybe you should come with us to-" Abyasa, who carried the unconscious Estela, trailed his words the moment he saw the mage walked to the sky past the window frame.

"You! What are you-" The officer went speechless when he saw Andrius walked on the sky as if there is an invisible platform below his sandals. The mage mumbled something under his breath before masterless weapons on the ground rose up to the air. They moved orderly near the mage casting spells in the sky.

Andrius walked farther. A trail made of weapons and rubbles followed him. The extreme height above ground allowed him to see everything clearly. Weaponaries began to disperse and assumed a space in the broad night sky.

The mage continued to chant spells. His eyes emitted a faint blue-colored glow. Blood ran down his nose. Abyasa attempted to stop him by throwing a pebble. The pebble didn't reach the mage. Instead, it floated in the sky similar to other rubbles and weapons.

"Huh?! Hey!" Hunters who were busy fighting the calamities halted as their weapons began to float in the air. The orcs and goblins raised their head to know who took their weapons as well. Everyone paused fighting to look at a sea of weapons in the sky.

Blue aura enveloped every weapon, causing them to shine like stars.

Andrius's hair ends glowed as his eyes shone brighter. He licked the blood trickled from his nose and smiled in satisfaction.

"...I searched for comrades and met with enemy. I'm surrounded and there is nowhere to run now...."

Many people witnessed the mage's spell. Some pulled out their phone to record what happened.

"The mayday has come. For I call upon you...The Seven Nation Army!"

Upon dispatching the last spell, weapons and ruins rain down from the sky. People immediately abandoned their amazement and fled to all direction. Scream and curses emerged from the crowd desperately avoiding weapons falling on their head.

"Agh! No! I don't want to die!" A girl cried as she ran away from an axe.

Stab!

"Ugh...huh?" the girl was perplexed when the axe sliced an orc behind her instead. People stopped running and subdued their panic as soon as they realized the weapons weren't attacking them. It moved on its own as if wielded by a ghost.

It only annihilated the calamities.

Abyasa was fascinated by the area range Andrius can control under his spell. His eyes glued to the powerful young mage.

'How many mages in the country are capable of such wide-ranged control as that?' He thought.

Noticing the stare on his back, Andrius turned around to meet the officer's gaze.

"Tell the Hunter's Unity to focus on evacuating survivors." The mage's now blue eyes gleamed in the dark.

Abyasa opened his mouth to say something and retreated it. He smiled to the mage instead.

"Understood. The Hunters Unity will repay your help one day. And..."

The officer threw a futuristic one-eyed glasses on Andrius. "This will help your surveillance. Make sure to find the dungeon boss."

"Thank you." Andrius put on the glasses. Multiple floating screens appeared to show him the evacuation process.

'Where is it..?'

The mage wiped his nosebleed as he seek for the dungeon boss. He could tell his body is reaching its limit.

'I need to find it faster and end this.' Andrius watched the footages to no avail.

"I'm reaching my limit with this weak body. Let's commence another hunt." Andrius walked down from the sky calmly as someone who stepped down from stairs. He noticed a dagger that wasn't a part of his army, lying on the ground.

[Andrius used Relentless courage of invisible authority lv. 24]

He reached for the dagger and it flew into his grasp. He smirked at the dagger. It reminded him of his days fighting as Franc Elixis.

'I used to be an assassin type...' Andrius swiped his finger across the blade to coat it with mana.

"I can't let my assassination skills become rusty just because I'm a mage type now."

Slash!

In a flash, Andrius cut through all goblins in his way. His attacks were precise. His strikes were clean. His techniques honed from years of battle experience displayed in his attack pattern.

"Isn't that guy a mage? What kind of mage moves like that?" Abyasa's jaw dropped as he observed the mage's movement after sending off survivors in an ambulance.

"A mage whose speed is akin to an assassin type hunter." A woman with curly hair tied in a low bun stood beside Abyasa. She was wearing a black kebaya with white batik skirt. "He awfully reminded me of someone."

"Have you find the dungeon boss?"

"You're such a worrywart. I sent it to oblivion already."

Kieek!

A goblin tried to ambush him. Abyasa turned his head, the sharp blade attached to the end of his braid swayed along and went through the goblin's neck.

"Then, the dungeon should be closing soon."
