After homeroom ended and Mr. Osmond left the classroom, the atmosphere in the class became lively.
I usually find my peace in the chatter of my classmates while I read a book, following the words on the page, but not today.
I have to chase after Mr. Osmond. It's not that I want to; I was just called out earlier, "The principal is looking for you, Akatani. You should go this morning," right after homeroom. So now I have to head to the central building.
The central building is where the staff room and library are located. If students go there, it's usually to study or work on assignments in the library. Sometimes they might visit the staff room for one reason or another.
"Akatani, you're being called out again."
"Don't look at me like that, Wilt. This time it's not the staff room."
"I heard. It's the principal's office, right? I've never been there."
"Me neither. Are you jealous?"
"Not really."
