Becoming a cat was the last thing I expected, but in a world filled with anomalies, surprises like this had become almost mundane. Dungeons pulling me in, pseudo-dungeons ambushing me, and constant trouble lurking around every corner—it was all part of the package. After enough bizarre experiences, I'd apparently developed an unsettling level of calm for situations like this.
"Aw, you're so cute! All fluffy and soft!"
The bubbly voice of Rindo broke my thoughts. She crouched in front of me, her delighted squeal almost enough to distract me from the real problem: her pastel-pink underwear, now directly at eye level.
Stop staring. Stop staring, damn it! My eyes weren't cooperating. The gravitational pull of her unmentionables was too strong to resist.
"Where'd you come from, little kitty? You're so adorable!"
She babbled to herself as she reached out to stroke my head. Her hands were gentle, warm.
"Can I pet you?"
