Chapter 2 - Another Day of Hell

As the first light of morning gently caressed the peaceful expression of a beautiful, sleeping young girl, her vibrant crimson hair shimmered with a mesmerizing glow, creating an enchanting aura around her

As the heavy doors creaked, they gradually swung open, revealing a figure that stepped into the dimly lit room.

The person who entered the room had a strong presence, with a broad, sturdy frame and striking jet-black hair with prominent white streaks at the roots. A dense, menacing beard highlighted his formidable appearance. Despite this intimidating demeanor, he was wearing an apron and holding a spatula as he approached the young girl.

"Saki, wakey-wakey! It's time for sch- *cough* I mean it's the start of your second year at HH-Academy." The man gently spoke to the girl with a soft and kind tone, coaxing her to wake up as it was time to start the day.

"Come on, just five more minutes, dada."Saki's words were accompanied by a cute expression and a pleading tone in her voice as she turned her head in a different direction.

Saki's father, feeling tense and agitated, paused for a moment and took a slow, deep breath, trying to regain his composure. His expression suddenly transformed from one of kindness to one of seething anger, making a complete 180-degree shift that was evident in the way his features contorted and his eyes narrowed, now radiating hostility instead of warmth.

"LISTEN YOUNG LADY, YOUR CUTE TRICKS WON'T WORK ON ME. IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP NOW, OR ELSE I WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO THROW AWAY ALL THE ANIME-RELATED THINGS YOU HAVE CAREFULLY COLLECTED OVER THE YEARS. DON'T MAKE ME DO IT, I'M SERIOUS."Saki's father said with agitation evident in his eyes.

"AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY CALLING ME 'dADa'? DO YOU THINK YOU ARE A GRADE SCHOOLER OR SOMETHING? YOU'RE 19 THIS YEAR, SO NOW IT'S TIME TO GET YOURSELF TOGETHER AND START ACTING LIKE AN ADULT. I NEED YOU TO GET YOUR ASS OUT OF HERE UNLESS YOU WANT ME TO WHOOP THAT SAME ASS TO THE MOON." Saki's father's booming voice reverberated through the room, filled with a mix of frustration and rage.

Saki was jolted awake from her peaceful slumber and tumbled down the bed by the sudden sound of her father's furious voice echoing through the house.

"I-I'm UP DAD. PLEASE DON'T THROW AWAY MY A-ANIME COLLECTION." Saki shouted in a pleading tone.

"NOW GO FRESH UP, AND GET YOUR ASS DOWN TO THE KITCHEN." Saki's father yelled in an angry tone

"SIR YES, SIR." Saki shouted on top of her lungs.

As Saki's father left the room, Saki exhaled a deep sigh of relief. Her moment of peace, however, was short-lived, as her father unexpectedly reentered the room, causing her anxiety to resurface.

"And my dear daughter, today marks the beginning of your second year at the academy. So, I have lovingly prepared all your favorite dishes. Please hurry and come down before the dishes go cold." Saki's father said in a cheesy and kind tone as if he was not even angry a second ago and left while humming a cheerful tune.

Saki couldn't help but wonder if her father experienced periods, considering his erratic mood swings. As the thought weighed on her mind, she let out a heavy sigh, contemplating the possible explanation for his behavior.

Saki slowly rose from the ground, feeling the cool tiles against her bare feet as she made her way to the bathroom. Upon reaching the mirror, she gazed at her reflection and quietly uttered, "Everything will be alright." With determination, she splashed water on her face, followed by brushing her teeth methodically. After slapping her cheeks lightly, she freshened up and proceeded to the kitchen, ready to start her day.

Saki sat eagerly at the table, her eyes lighting up with excitement as she took in the array of her favorite dishes laid out before her: Kimchi chicken stir fry with a medley of colorful vegetables, fluffy white rice, a plate of tender smoked fish, a bowl of Nattō topped with a raw egg, a generous serving of savory Japchae, and a tempting scoop of refreshing mint chocolate ice cream for dessert. Overflowing with gratitude, she gave a peck on her dad's cheek, her heart full of appreciation, before eagerly picking up her chopsticks and digging into the food.

As she was slowly savoring every bite of her meal, reveling in the flavors that danced on her taste buds, her father's gaze softened with a hint of nostalgia as if a distant memory had suddenly resurfaced, and he tenderly reached out to pat her head.

Saki suddenly felt a disturbance in the force, signaling an impending event about to unfold. Intuitively sensing trouble, she hastily devoured her food and swiftly escaped from her father.

"You know when I was your ag-WAIT SAKI! I WAS JUST ABOUT TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR MOTHER!! and she left without even saying bye. god, please help her gain some maturity." saki's father exclaimed and took a deep breath before sighing.

'Forgive me Father, but I know you were going to tell me your romance story again for the zillionth time, so I ran away to escape the inevitable barrage of cringe and cheesy dialogs that you totally didn't make up.'

After running for a while, Saki came to a sudden halt in front of a colossal building, gasping for air. As she tried to catch her breath, her eyes focused on the prominent logo atop the structure with bold letters, that spelled out 'HETROID HUNTER{HH}-ACADEMY'.

"Oh no, I can't believe I left my coffee behind," Saki exclaimed in frustration. "Well, there's no use dwelling on it now. At least the canteen usually has coffee available. I should hurry before it gets too busy and they run out."

As Saki made her way into the academy building, a sense of unease crept over her. She leisurely navigated towards the canteen, feeling a multitude of gazes watching her every move. Suddenly, her legs unexpectedly stumbled upon something, causing her to lose her balance and fall awkwardly to the ground.

Saki heard a few laughs near her, so she turned her head to see who was laughing at her. Suddenly a voice rang out beside her.

A group of girls, who were huddled together, erupted into laughter upon making Saki fall. "Oh, look who it is," one of them exclaimed with a mix of mockery and surprise, "the most famous failure had the audacity to come back here."

Saki slowly got up without speaking a word, her movements filled with an overwhelming sense of solitude. As she navigated her way through the corridor towards the canteen, she could feel the weight of unshed tears pressing against her resolve, threatening to spill over at any moment, yet she continued to walk with a quiet determination.

'A false sense of hope always feels good, huh...' were the melancholic words that echoed in Saki's mind as she mulled over the cruel irony of finding comfort in illusions. With a heavy heart, she whispered to herself, realizing the temporary solace that deception can bring.

"Just Another Day of 'Hell'."
