Chapter 2: Princess, I cannot bear to see you sad.
---
[The princess' bedroom is wide open, and you can even peek into a corner from the outside. The smell of fine wine wafts through the room.]
[With evil thoughts in mind, you walk into Princess Morgan's bedroom.]
[You see her lying drunkenly on the golden quilt with aristocratic patterns, with a few drops of wine on her pale pink lips.]
[You are shocked, because you have never seen Morgan like this before. In your memory, she has always been difficult to get along with.]
[You approach her and make a decision that changes your life.]
Although what echoed in Ian's mind might have been just a series of words, he could feel himself constantly receiving the memories brought about by these actions.
The luxurious wool carpet in the princess's bedroom;
The smell of fine wine filling the air;
And Morgan, lying on the bed, gasping from the effects of the alcohol—everything was so real.
Exhausting all the words that could be thought of, in the end, all that remained was the word *great.*
Yes, it's so hard to describe.
If the girl Ian met in Chaldea was a baseline of 60 points, then Morgan in front of him was 100 points. Ian couldn't believe that anyone in the world could ignore her.
This may be the legendary adventure.
All the while, everything continued.
[You touched Morgan's hand and were so fascinated by it that even Morgan, drunk on wine, could feel your movements.]
[Morgan woke up, but she was drunk and did not stop everything immediately. Instead, she asked you an incredible question.]
"Am I pretty?"
Along with the feeling came Morgan's question.
When she woke up, she was looking at Ian, dressed as a knight, with her eyes as blue as the deep sea.
At this moment, Morgan didn't seem to care why Ian was there, nor did she intend to question why he dared to do such a thing.
More than anything else, she was eager to know the answer to her question.
"Am I pretty?"
Although it was an overstepping of authority, Ian reported his thoughts very honestly.
"My lady, my answer to your question is that you are very beautiful."
"It's hard to find a place as gentle as yours in all of Britain."
Everything seemed so natural.
[Talent Affinity activated.]
[Morgan believed your words without a doubt, but she fell into deeper sorrow. She seemed to dislike the name of the gentle land very much.]
[Morgan pushes your hand away, hugs her legs, curls up on the bed, and says nothing.]
[You feel that all this seems to be related to this grand banquet.]
[You decide to risk your life and ask.]
"My Lady, have you encountered any troubles? If you can tell me, perhaps I can find a solution."
Morgan looked up when she heard this.
She was in the prime of her youth, and when she looked at the knight in front of her, she suddenly sneered.
"Do you want to atone for your sins?"
"My Lady, I do have this thought," Ian answered truthfully, "but I'd like to know more about why you are so sad."
"Nothing to do with you."
Morgan replied coldly.
"Foolish knight, don't push your luck. You should thank the great King Uther and that damn wine for letting you stand here now."
"But Princess, I am not asking for more." Ian touched the cross sword on his waist.
"This is my duty as your loyal knight, Princess."
The simulation continued.
[Morgan was silent for a long time after hearing your words of loyalty.]
[She was moved by what you just said and seemed to want to say something more, but in the end, she decided not to say a word.]
[There is some concern in her heart.]
[You waited for a long time and realized that you couldn't just sit there and wait for death.]
[You decide to encourage her and let her open up to you while she is drunk.]
[You did it.]
[She is now going to ask a question that will determine your fate.]
"Let me ask you." Princess Morgan looked at Ian in front of her, her eyes still filled with concern.
"You just said that as a knight, you are loyal to me, right?"
"Yes, my lady," Ian answered without hesitation, "To obey you and fight for you is the greatest honor I can have as a knight."
These practiced oaths spoke to Ian as if he knew them himself.
This was a companion memory—in this simulation, he was already a knight who had experienced many lives.
He was able to utter these words of allegiance in an instant.
"Then--"
Morgan looked around. In the huge room, she, drunk, and the knight were the only ones there.
The moonlight fell through the glazed window beside it and shattered into a colorful curtain of light on the ground.
Dark clouds passed by.
The room fell into darkness.
Morgan's voice sounded at this moment:
"But what if, at some point in the future, I no longer own Britain, and another king sits on the throne?"
"Will you still swear allegiance to me?"
Ian never expected Morgan to say such a thing at this time. He was stunned for a moment and was unable to answer her question immediately.
The clouds dispersed.
Morgan's face was reflected in the moonlight again—but she was almost broken.
"It turns out that everything is just a false bubble... I have never owned anything."
The princess's voice was sad and worried.
[Because of your momentary hesitation, Morgan fell into endless sorrow.]
[You realize you've made a huge mistake and want to make amends, but nothing works.]
[Morgan began to fall into extreme self-doubt and was close to madness.]
[You don't know why she became like this after attending the party, but you know that this won't work, so you try to find a way to temporarily free her from this pain.]
Looking at Morgan in front of him, who was sometimes sneering and sometimes sobbing, Ian knew he couldn't just stand by and watch—her sadness came from his own hesitation, so he had to end it all himself.
A few clangs echoed.
The knight's armor fell to the ground with a crisp sound.
"Foolish knight, what are you doing?!"
Although she was in a frenzy, Morgan still had a minimum level of rationality.
But Ian didn't stop there.
He took a deep breath, as if rushing to a battlefield.
"Princess, I cannot bear to see you sad."
"Even though I may be executed by you after this, I still hope to do my best to relieve your worries."
