Darkness enveloped him, the last sensation being the cold impact of metal and the screeching of brakes. Opening his eyes, he found himself in a void, the emptiness stretching infinitely in all directions. Confusion washed over him as he realized he no longer felt the pain from his collision. Instead, a serene calm settled in, broken only by a warm, radiant light that materialized before him.
The light condensed into a humanoid form, revealing a figure clad in flowing robes. His eyes sparkled with an ancient wisdom and an impish glint. "Welcome, young soul," the figure greeted, his voice echoing with a celestial harmony.
"Who... who are you?" the young man stammered, still reeling from the shock.
"I am a god, a being beyond your mortal comprehension. You, unfortunate as it may be, were struck down by the fabled Truck-kun, a harbinger of untimely deaths and new beginnings," the god explained, his expression a mix of sympathy and amusement.
"Truck-kun? Really?" he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Yes, indeed. As compensation for your abrupt end, I am here to grant you three wishes. Choose wisely, for they will shape your new life in a world of gods and mortals," the god declared.
Taking a deep breath, the young man pondered his choices. After what seemed like an eternity, he spoke, "First, I wish for a skill that boosts my stats after I kill an enemy. Second, I want a skill mastery. and last, I wish for a system that includes a status panel, skills and talents I can purchase, and an inventory."
The god nodded, a smile tugging at his lips. "Very well. Your wishes are granted. However, know that your talents will only awaken once you receive the blessing of a god. Farewell, young soul, and may your new life be filled with adventure."
With a blinding flash, the void dissipated, and he found himself in a bustling city unlike any he had ever seen. Towering structures and labyrinthine streets thrummed with life. His new adventure had begun in the city of Orario.
---------------
The first few days in Orario were overwhelming. He wandered the streets, marveling at the diverse populace, from adventurers clad in armor to gods and goddesses exuding an otherworldly presence. With no clear direction, he scrounged for food and slept in alleyways, waiting for an opportunity to present itself.
On the fourth day, destiny intervened. While resting near a bustling square, he overheard a conversation that piqued his interest.
"Did you hear about the new Familia that was just established? I think it's called the Hestia Familia," a burly adventurer remarked to his companion.
"Yeah, I heard. The goddess Hestia is leading it, and they only have one member so far. Pretty new and small" the other responded.
His heart raced. This was the chance he had been waiting for. Gathering his courage, he asked the adventurers for directions and made his way to the Hestia Familia's home, a modest yet welcoming church on the outskirts of the city.
Taking a deep breath, he knocked on the door. Moments later, a petite goddess with raven hair and vibrant blue eyes answered, her expression curious and kind.
"Hello! How can I help you?" she asked, her voice cheerful.
"My name is Ren. I heard about your new Familia and I wish to join. I have nowhere else to go and want to become strong," he said earnestly, bowing his head.
Hestia's eyes softened. "Of course, Ren. Come inside, and let's get you settled."
---
The warmth of the church contrasted sharply with the cold nights he had endured. Hestia provided him with food, water, and a place to rest. As night fell, she sat beside him, a small knife in her hand.
"To officially become part of my Familia, you need my blessing," she explained. "Once you have it, your status will become visible, and you can start your journey as an adventurer."
Ren nodded, excitement and apprehension mingling within him. Hestia pricked her finger, allowing a drop of her divine blood to fall onto his back. A glowing symbol appeared, signifying his acceptance into the Hestia Familia.
Hestia's eyes softened as she saw his determination. "Ren, welcome to the Hestia Familia. We are small right now. Our only other member, Bell, is currently in the Dungeon. He's determined to become strong as well, and I believe you two will get along well."
Ren listened intently as Hestia continued to explain the basics of their Familia and the responsibilities that came with being an adventurer. The conversation filled him with a renewed sense of purpose and determination.
