Chapter 10 - Theft?

Rhali fell to the arena from the sky, painting an extremely long trail of blood behind him as his body skidded across the floor of the Godfall blood Arena.

The large blood splatter on the ground, which did not burn away even with the terrifying essence devouring flame burning on the aren, caused all the hearts of all the blood wraiths watching to constrict.

The place where Rhali finally stopped, was merely a few steps away from the boundary of the Godfall blood stage. He lay there unmoving and silent.

Ursal's vicious and cruel strike was not something that Rhalis could have defended against.

Even if he were to perish right then and there, no one would have been surprised.

However, even though Torzik's expression had changed, he still did not declare the end of the duel.

"Ursal… to think that he actually…" A watching blood wraith gasped as his horror reached its apex.

Ursal's body was covered with grevious wounds and his aura was as faint as a fading ember.

Ursal's body suddenly flickered as he arrived once more in front of Rhali's body.

Rhali lay paralyzed in a pool of his own blood, his entire body ruptured open. His injuries were so severe that even an extremely bloodthirsty person would have a hard time looking at him while his aura was extremely weak and thin as well.

Yet, despite being in such a terrible state, Rhali's body continued to twitch weakly and his blurry eyes still shone with a weak, but incredibly tenacious light.

He did not want to die!

He really did not want to die!!

Unfortunately Ursal cruelly extended an arm and grabbed him by the throat. He lifted him up from the ground and stared intensely into those eyes which still glimmered with the faintest of lights.

Then....chains of congealed blood erupted from his left chest and pierced into Rhali's body.

"Is he going to....." A frightened blood wraith exclaimed.

Immediately the entire audience watched with frightened eyes as the bloodied Rhali in Ursals grasp shrivelled up at visible speeds.

He could not even struggle as the entirety of his essence left him and entered Ursal's body.

Canaan swiftly averted his eyes, unable to look further, around him, neither Talia, nor Kaldur or even Raya reacted to this horrible scene.

They all looked in coldly in impassively as a member of their brethren met a fate crueler than what one was capable of imagining.

The great young devil lord Rhali, before everyone's eyes transformed in to an emancipated corpse.

With a disgusted shrug, Ursal tossed away his remains as the Essence devouring chains left Rhalis body into his.

He took an intoxicated breath of fresh air and felt his power rise from devouring the blood of his vanquished foe.

Fenrig soullessly feel onto his knees.

Blood was seeping out between his fingers and his body had not stopped trembling since he had witnessed the unmentionable.

It was not uncommon for blood wraiths to kill eachother in ritual combat, after all to them, weakness was a sin worthy of death.

But when talented blood wraiths who could become assets of the clan fought, they would rarely ever brawl to the death.

Thay is to say, Ursal's cruel actions were exremely vile and despicable, however as a devil lord with the responsibility of enforcing the traditions of his clan, he could not seek vengeance.

He could only watch the cruel murder of his only son.

After a grave but oppressive silence, Torzik finally rose to address the issue and declared loudly, "With this, this centurie's great Wrath convention officially draws to a close. The two battles were exciting to say the least, and displayed the splendor of our great clan's juniors to the utmost.

Our unfortunately passed brother Rhali and our young devil lord Ursal's battle for first place among the young generation was especially astounding even for us, and it deserves to be recorded in our history."

"Ursal is the youngest third circle silver class devil god in our history, and Rhali perfected the famed essence devouring art and allowed us to witness the power of the Extinction Nephilim. They are both born gems of our clan, so they are undoubtedly a blessing and a gift the heaven itself has granted us. The Blood wraith clan will undoubtedly rise to even greater heights …Rhali especially burned the brightest...we shall forever miss his flame of power.."

"But for now, we celebrate the rise of our brother Ursal, the champion of the Great wrath assembly!" Torzik finished loudly.

The great wrath assembly was supposed to be a great event that all the young blood wraiths participated in, but after witnessing Ursals tyrannical power and cruel methods whobwoild dare to challenge him!?

The crowed erupted in a somewhat uneasy but still thunderous applause.

The blood wraiths after all, worshipped the strong.

Ursal then proudly took his seat at his father's side.

At this time Torzik once again took to the stage and began. "The last event on today's itinerary is the reception of the the second Prince of the House of Oceanus's gift.

He travelled across thousands miles to gravr this occasion with his presence, an honor we do not deserve, and what's more he leaves us with grand present unlike any other!!!"

With Torziks loud roar the audience around him erupted in a loud applause.

Torzik then escorted Konsul to the grand arena.

After proudly gazing at the audience Konsul suddenly spoke.

"Before My grandfather died, he remembered the life saving grave the Great Wraith king of his time had shown him, and left behind a dying wish. He hoped we would find the his descendant with the best aptitude amongst the younger generation and gift him one of the most powerful treasures we possess!"

"Before I came here, my royal father had me bring a hundred grams of Celestial Moon pearls. The young hero selected will have the honour of recieving my grandfathers gratitude!"

The entire populous of the good fall blood palace felt into imminent shock.

Celestial moon pearls were treasures left behind from the inception of the world that had been touched by primal energy.

In other words they contained dense unadulterated primal energy several times purer than what existed in the outside world.

Should one cultivate their divine or devilish power by absorbing the primal energy left in the celestial moon pearls, they could advance in the realms of power ten times as fast with half the effort.

As one could image, no one in their right mind would ever willing give this treasure to someone else, especially a great devil god House which desired power above all else.

Lord Kaldur's pupils widened as his arms visibly trembled, even a gold class devil good devil god such as he could not remain unfazed infront of this temptation.

After speaking, Konsul's gaze moved towards Torzik. "Sentinel lord, bring out the celestial moon pearls. Even though this is a gift to the Blood wraith Clan, you shouldn't have any complaints about giving this to the one with the best devilish aptitudes as a reward, right?"

Strangely uppn hearing Konsul's words,Torzik's expression all of a sudden became palid, and cold droplets of sweat broke out the surface of his forehead. He didn't move to retrieve the Celestial moon pearls, but rather stood there in a frightened silence.

With a *thud* sound, Torzik immediately fell on both his knees with both hands trembling as he said with a face full of horror: "The...The Celestial Moon Pearls that Young Sea King gifted us, I left it in our treasury and made it clear to the gaurds there that they must guard it well. But… but this a few hours ago, agaurd informed me..that the hundred grams of celestial moon pearls had suddenly disappeared!"

The crowd below immediately devolved into chaos.

To steal the treasure brought by the House of Oceanus… who would dare?!

"Huh?" Canaan frowned slightly as a he locked eyes with Talia, but her expression too was mired in shock… Based on his superficial understanding of Torzik, he would consider him a cautious, cold, and calculative individual with an instinct for self preservation.

He was also a devil lord with an intrinsic understanding of the blood wraith clan.

After being given such a valuable treasure, he definitely would put several measures in place to make sure one did not steal it and the blame would not fall upon his head.

What's more if the Celestial moon pearls had truly been stolen, why had there been no sight of apprehension or fear in his demeanor until Konsul brought it up.

Not only that, the Celestial moon pearls were brought by the House of Oceanus. Even if someone was completely desperate for them, at the very least they should have waited and stolen it after Konsul left. Now that it had been stolen, to avoid shaming themselves in his presence, the blood wraith clan would definitely try their hardest to find the celestial moon pearls before he left.

This was the worst time to steal it!

The strangest detail though, was the way Torzik acted.

Konsul while from the house of Oceanus, was a mere prince, however Torzik had acted completely subservient around him.

If he was such a base and lowly character devoid of dignity, how could he be the Sentinel devil lord.

No, it was highly likely thay the way he was acting right now, was fake!!

"Wh… what!!"

Konsul rose up into the air with a wrathful aura seat as his expression became furious.

He looked at Torzik and said fiercely: "You're saying that… there's actually someone who would dare steal the celestial moon pearls among you?"

"This Sentinel lord is useless, my incompetence has mistepresented my house, I beg for the forgiveness of my lords the Sea King." Torzik lowered his head, a look of shame and fear across his entire face.

"This is ridiculous!" Konsul's body violently heaved. His complexion became more and more grave; he had apparently been angered to his genuine limit: "How could you lot allow this to happen!"

In the royal seat, Canaan's frown deepened as he remarked. "His anger is clearly feigned. Either these hundred grams of Celestial Pearls do not exist, of he is his own thief!"

After hearing his words, for the first time, Lady Raya glanced at him interest as a mysterious light danced within her eyes.

Kosul's eyes became stormy as he accused: "Yesterday, when I took out the Celestial Moon pearls, only esteemed members of your clan were around. And they naturally would not let the news travel that you had obtained such a priceless treasure. Also you are a great devil god house, how could it be easy to steal from you… so then, the thief should be from your Clan!"

Konsul's words caused the facial expressions of all the present blood wraiths to freeze in horror. The sound of whispering and murmuring grew even louder.

Torzik also quickly nodded in agreement: "That is all true, the words of the young Sea King have once again enlightened us. The guards of the treasury have been trained to prepare towards powerful external invasions, so if perhaps a traitor with a weak aura approached th treasury, they migjt fail to detect them, which also means that the theif cannot be a blood wraith but rather he must be from one of the mortal or demigod clans taking refuge with us!!"

Canaan's eyes immediately widened as his aura grew disorderly. 'So they were aiming at him after all!!." A grave aura of rage and killing intent suddenly arose from him, alarming Talia.

She suddenly spoke in his mind. 'What is wrong...'

"To think you would allow mortal and demigod ants to steal a treasure we bequeathed onto you, you have simply thrown away all your face along with ours as well!" Konsul's eyes were like those of a serpent, viciously sweeping across one face to the other.

Canaan replied to Talia in a frantic and rageful force thay nearly tore itself out of his throat. "This is all fake. They put on this monkey show to take him....they know what he is....and desire his blood!"

Canaan was an extremely intelligent individual with a talent for seeing through one's treacherous heart, an predicting the trajectory of one thoughts.

Maybe it was as a result of his dispotion or natural gift exclusive to him as a devil emperor.

When Konsul swept his gaze across the gathered blood wraiths, he was suddenly calm again: "A mere thief is beneath my anger after all, since he actually dared to steal from me, he shall face the natural consequence."

"To the wretched fool who has doomed himself… On the jade case holding the celestial moon pearls is a mark of our House's unique divine energy: The aquarius mark! Once is I send out waves of my divine enrgy, the case of the celestial moon pearls will rrsonate with me and I will quickly know of its location!"

As soon as Konsul finished speaking, his irises glowed with a surreal blue, and he suddenly pointed south of the Godfall blood palace. "There it is."

Waiting for nothing else Torzik suddenly moved, His body turning into a bolt of red lightning as he rushed towards the hall's exit. He was blindingly quick; in a blink of an eye he had disappeared from everyone's sight.

When he appeared again he was a holding a helpless youth by his throat.

The youth radiated an aura of fragility and purity, his features had long since seared themselves into Canaan's memory as his 'brother.'

He was lothal.

An inhumane snarl ripped out Canaan's lips as his body tensed like a coiled spring, however almost immediately a wave of irresistible force crashed onto his person as Talia's imperious voice commanded within his mind.

"Do not move!"
