The next day, after changing clothes, Keyra rushed to Sabrina's room. Keyra entered the room. She saw that Sabrina was still the same, no change. Keyra sat on the edge of the bed right next to Sabrina and stared at her friend silently.
The bedroom door suddenly opened slowly. Keyra turned her head and found Abba coming in using his wheelchair.
"Abba?? How could you—" Keyra stopped her words. Could someone help her?
"How is she?" Abba asked. His voice was hoarse, almost making Keyra not understand what he was talking about.
"Aahh yes. She hasn't changed since yesterday." Keyra was still confused.
"I saw a vampire bite mark on her neck. Luckily the bite wasn't too deep and the poison that was released wasn't much, so she could still be saved. Otherwise, this child could become a vampire."
"Become a vampire?" Keyra was surprised.
"Yes, a vampire bite can make the bitten person become a vampire if the bitten person doesn't die or the poison released from the bite has entered a lot." Abba explained. "She will recover soon, so you just relax. You have to focus on what you will do next." Abba came to Sabrina and held her hand. "Do you know what you are going to do?"
"Eeehh?? Oohhh yeah, I think so." she answered hesitantly. Keyra smiled thinly for a moment then lowered her head.
Actually, Keyra didn't know what she was going to do. Especially with her family. Keyra sighed. A hand touched her hand. Abba's hand. Keyra looked at Abba's hand and saw something strange. Her wrinkled hand slowly turned into a smooth, soft and young hand. Keyra was surprised and looked at Abba. Abba had turned into a young woman. Keyra rounded her eyes, her mouth open. She was surprised to see the change. But she felt familiar with Abba's young face.
"I am Maya" Abba's voice had also changed into a young woman's voice. Maya! That's right! The girl who opened the door for her and Sabrina the first time they came. Keyra wondered why she didn't see the girl again but she forgot to ask Audrey. "My family doesn't know my real name and they don't know I can transform into a young woman. Maya was my name when I was young. It feels like it's been centuries since anyone called me Maya. Until Bella came a few days ago through you."
"How do you know Bella?"
"Of course I do. Bella and I have been friends since we were little. We always went on adventures together. Me, Bella, Bora and of course Margareth." Maya seemed to be reminiscing about something. Her eyes were far away.
"Now do you know what you are going to do? You are the chosen one now and I know very well how hard it is to be the chosen one. But you have to survive, for everyone. Because since Bois came along, everyone's lives are in your hands. I also don't know how your life was before you became the chosen one, but your life is different now, very different from before and you have to try to get used to it." Abba patted Keyra's shoulder. Keyra took a deep breath. "I'm sorry you have to go through all this."
Keyra just smiled thinly.
"Now go down and have breakfast. You also have to take care of yourself, right?"
Keyra smiled then looked at Sabrina for a moment and went downstairs. There was no one in the kitchen. She was late for breakfast. No one woke her up, maybe they didn't want to disturb her. Keyra heard a sound from the backyard. Keyra opened the back door of the house and saw Audrey tending her plants in the garden. Keyra approached her.
"Keyra, are you awake? Oh, you must be hungry. Wait a minute, I'll prepare it." Audrey put down her gardening tools.
"No, no need. I'm not hungry."
Audrey frowned. "Are you sure?"
"Sure. I'm not used to having breakfast." Keyra didn't want to bother Audrey but what she said was true. She was indeed not used to having breakfast. When she was at Sabrina's house, she was forced to have breakfast because she felt bad for Mrs. Nicolau.
"Okay. If you're hungry, don't hesitate to tell me." Audrey smiled then went back to gardening.
"Hmm, that… What is that?" Keyra pointed to some of the plants Audrey had planted. They were all green. There were some plants that had flowers. But only a few had small flowers.
"These are all medicinal plants. My family are witches who are very good at potions. Especially with healing. Not all can be cured by magic. We also need potions, like your friend. She was hit by extraordinary magic."
"I was also hit by the same magic as her. But why am I okay?" true, Keyra was indeed hit by the same magic. But now she feels healthy again. While Sabrina is still unconscious.
"Because you are the chosen one."
Keyra was surprised. She thought Audrey didn't know who she was. "You... Know?"
Audrey nodded and smiled. "Yes. At first I didn't know. It was Adda who told me, because she was the one who opened the door for you." Audrey explained. True, they didn't know who Maya was, Keyra thought.
"But Darius also sent us a letter. Informing us of Disprea's condition."
"How is it there? What happened?"
"Everything is fine now. They are fixing the city that's why Darius couldn't visit you. The city had to be fixed immediately before Darken attacked again. But he thanked you for surviving and because of your warning, the Elders outside Disprea could come soon."
Keyra breathed a sigh of relief. At least she knew everything was okay.
"If you're bored, you can walk around the area near here. We've secured everything. And there's a river with clean and clear water."
Keyra smiled and nodded.
"Are you guys home?" Audrey smiled. Keyra saw Daylon and Ben had just arrived. Daylon smiled, waving his hand at Audrey. He was carrying a fishing rod while Ben was carrying a bucket. Ben didn't smile. He stared blankly.
"Look who we met." Daylon said. Not long after, two more men appeared from behind him. One middle-aged man and another younger man. Audrey put down her gardening tools and took off her gloves. She hugged the middle-aged man. Ben immediately went into the house.
"Arthur! Oh my god, it's been so long."
"Right. It's been so long. How are you Audrey? (letting go of his hug) is everything okay?"
"Of course everything is okay. This is... Rafael??"
The younger man smiled. "Hello aunty."
"Oh my.... (hugging Rafael for a moment then letting go) look at you! You're this big and.... Oh my, you're so handsome."
"Looks like his uncle, right?" Arthur said.
"Hmm, that's for sure." Audrey agreed and smiled.
"And... Who's that girl? It can't be Amelia, right?"
"Of course not (staring at Keyra) come here."
Keyra had no choice but to obey Audrey. She was in an awkward position. There was no way she would just leave like that.
"She is Keyra, my cousin's daughter. She is visiting here."
"Ahh really? Hello young lady, nice to meet you." Arthur held out his hand. Although a little hesitant, Keyra took Arthur's hand.
"The pleasure is mine, sir."
"No, no. Don't call me sir. Just call me Arthur."
"Okay." Keyra tried to smile. Keyra looked at Rafael who was also looking at her. She could see Rafael smiling slightly at her. Keyra was so fascinated by Rafael's beautiful eyes.
"And now let's go inside, I will make you some tea." Audrey invited.
"With pie?"
"Of course. Fresh from the oven."
"You are always great Audrey." Arthur praised.
"That's why I married her." This time Dyalon smiled.
"You are indeed a lucky jerk." Arthur and Daylon laughed together.
"Come in." Daylon led Arthur inside and Rafael followed him.
"I purposely didn't tell anyone about you so that no outsiders would know about your existence. Arthur is our good friend, it's not that we don't trust him. It's just to be on the safe side." Audrey explained.
"I understand."
"Okay, let's go inside."
"Uhm..can I walk around here?"
"Sure, of course. Our magic boundary is across the river. So, don't cross it."
"Okay."
Audrey went inside the house while Keyra walked into the forest. The air in the forest was very fresh. Different from New York City and all the hustle and bustle of the city. It was very quiet here. From a distance, Keyra could hear the sound of the river. Keyra quickened her pace and headed towards the sound. And sure enough, at the end of the forest there was a flowing river. The current was calm, the water was also clear. Keyra sat on one of the large rocks. Looking around her. There was no one there. Only her.
Keyra suddenly stood up and got ready. She wanted to practice her magic. Especially teleportation. She had never done it before. The last one who did it was Bella. Keyra closed her eyes, calming her mind. In her mind she wanted to go across the river.
"Moven."
Her body floated for a moment then reappeared. Keyra opened her eyes. She was still standing on the large rock. Just shifted a little. Keyra read the spell again. She appeared in the forest.
"Moven."
Keyra appeared right in the middle of the river. Keyra was surprised and started swimming.
"Moven!"
Keyra disappeared and reappeared. "Ugh!" Keyra's head hit a tree.
"Moven."
Keyra reappeared on the rock she had been sitting on but she lost her balance and fell into the river. Keyra was not ready. She tried to swim.
"Mov-Moven!"
This time Keyra landed right on the edge of the river, across from where she had been sitting. She succeeded, after trying so many times. Keyra sighed. Her clothes were soaked. Now she had to concentrate to be able to teleport to the other side of the river again. Keyra swallowed her saliva.
"Moven!"
"Ugh!"
Keyra heard a groan. Keyra opened her eyes. Her body was on top of someone's body. Rafael! Keyra was surprised but still didn't move.
"That… Was so surprising." Rafael replied. Keyra was still staring at Rafael's handsome face. "I don't mind if you still want to stay in this position."
Keyra just realized and immediately stood up.
"S-sorry."
"No problem." Rafael stood up and cleaned his clothes. "But your clothes are very wet. Did you swim with your clothes on?"
"Ahh I... I slipped."
"Oh... Alright. What are you doing here alone?"
"Enjoying nature." Keyra answered briefly. She tried to cover her nervousness. Both of her hands were behind her body.
"Okay." Rafael got up to leave.
"You! What are you doing here?"
"I'll go. I have to go back home to get my uncle's things that he left behind."
"Ahh okay."
"Do you want to come?"
"Eh? Oh.. (laughs awkwardly) no." Keyra shook her head and smiled awkwardly.
"Alright. See you around." Rafael smiled and disappeared after the magic barrier opened. Keyra's legs felt weak. She didn't know why she felt nervous earlier. And why was the man named Rafael so charming? Keyra shook her head quickly.
"No, no Keyra. You have to focus."
Rafael's figure really succeeded in distracting her.
