AN: hey guys, do hope you enjoy the chapter. The title is pretty self explanatory. See ya!

Lance Pov
I decided on the Thursday of my week long vacation to take Charlie up on his offer of dinner. If nothing else, being around a human like Charlie will help keep me from becoming a monster. No matter what, eventually if you're so far above everyone around you it begins to change your mentality.
Speaking with the fatherly Charlie Swan will help keep me balanced. I pull up outside the house and see the Chevy I remember belonging to jacobs dad. Billy maybe?
As I'm about to knock the door opened and I see the police chief smiling with a beer in hand, "Hey Lance. You're looking a lot better than The last time I saw you. Come in come in, My friend and I just turned on the game."
I smile as I walk in speaking back while crossing the threshold, "Yea I'm definitely feeling better now that I took a few days to myself. Apparently it was just some stomach bug." I lie. Charlie nods and closes the door while leading me into the living room where a man and a kid my age are sitting. Both are of Native American descent and I see a wheelchair beside the older of the duo.
Both lock eyes with me. The older one looks wary, the younger looks a bit more open.
"Hey Billy, Jake, this is the kid I was talking to you about earlier. Lance, meet Billy Black and his son Jacob."
I smile and shake Billy's hand, as we lock eyes the temperature of the room changes. He can sense what I am. I don't know how but he can see my beast lurking just beneath the surface.
Charlie and Jacob seem to understand this and before it can get to awkward I smile at the old paralyzed man and turn to Charlie while breaking the handshake, "Hey Charlie, can I have a beer?"
He laughs and shook his head, "sorry kid. If you were 18 I wouldn't care." I smile at him and speak, "How fortunate then that my birthday was Monday."
He shakes his head, "you were that sick on your birthday? Man, I know that was rough. You should've felt him Billy, his forehead was like a stove."
I see Billy's eyes become more and more serious as we speak, especially when my 'sickness' is brought up. Charlie points to a door at the back of the room and speaks, "kitchens in there kid. But you only get to drink one. You have to drive Afterall."
I nod and go into the kitchen, there I find the awkward protagonist of this world. I decide to speak out so I don't startle her, "hey."
She turns quickly to see me standing In her kitchen, she speaks a quiet "hey," back to me while I slip to the fridge and grab 3 beers for Billy, Charlie, and myself.
I pop open the bottle and speak, "how're you? School still as crazy as it was the day I went?"
She nods, "yea it feels like I'm a new toy." I give my own nod in acquiescence and reply, "Believe me I know how that is. I just keep my headphones in so people eventually learn not to speak to me. It's worked fairly well."
She laughs and shakes her head, "it's because you haven't been in school. In fact, it'll probably be worse when you return. A lot of people, my friend Jessica in particular, has been quite interested in your recent absences."
I sigh, Jessica Stanley, played by Anna Kendrick. She was pretty sure but she was a drama spreading gossiper. Not someone I wanted to be involved with. Actually her character in the movie reminds me too much of my ex in my past life. Sans her dark hair which was blonde on my ex, they act very similar.
"Ah, I don't know about that. I'm not interested in any girl at the moment. I just got out of a relationship before moving here, and From what I've heard about her she isn't too good at taking 'no' for an answer."
She laughs this time, as she gathers herself Charlie comes strolling into the kitchen, "hey, I came to make sure you weren't in here stealing my beer." He says looking at his laughing daughter and me with half my beer in my right hand and the other two in my left.
I hand him the two beers after he throws his away, and then speak to Bella, "good to see you can actually speak. After the car ride from the airport I'd actually thought you were a mute. See ya," I say following Charlie into the living room.
He speaks as we sit down, "I haven't heard bells laugh like that in a long time Lance. I hope you have pure intentions," he says falling into the role of protective dad. I feel jacobs burning gaze on me but I just chuckle, "no need for that tone Charlie. I'm currently unavailable to any and all girls. I got out of s relationship right before I came here to the west coast."
I see understanding in his eyes as he nods. Deciding to change the subject I point to the tv, "so, who are we cheering for?" I ask not familiar with this worlds sports teams.
The rest of the night went like that. Just chatting and watching baseball.

As I was leaving I threw my hood on and was about to put the helmet on when I feel someone approaching me. I turn to see Billy being rolled by Jacob and I speak, "It was good to meet you two. Hope to speak more in the future."
Billy speaks to his son, "jake, go start the truck." The kid looks like he wants to protest but a look from his dad silences that.
As the third party leaves Billy's gaze returns to mine, "I think you should come to a meeting we're having next week. We'll need to discuss boundaries."
I chuckle, "no need to sound threatening old man. I assure you I had no idea what I was before I arrived in this town. Lance Steel. Here's my cell phone number."
I say writing down my phone number on a napkin i'd used to coaster the beer. I get a nod from the old man before starting my bike, waving at Jacob and taking off.

Billy Black pov
As I watch the young wolf take off on his bike I begin to plan on how to handle this. Carlisle will have to be informed as well. Sigh, so much to do now.
Jacob arrives, "what were you two talking about?" I laugh and tell him, "he'll be coming to the meeting next week."
I see surprise in jakes face but I don't have the answers he needs right now. He'll figure it out eventually. "Let's go Jacob." I say and we begin the trip to the truck and back to the res.

After I get home I roll to the phone and dial a number, "yea?" Is the response I get on the other end, "come here now. We have something to discuss."
Not 5 minutes later I hear a knock on my door. I open it to find the alpha of the pack, Sam Uley.
