Chapter 5 - 05 Thoroughly Beat the Rascal

Liu An looked at Su Xiaofeng, whose eyes were curved with laughter, his eyes practically glued to her, and he almost drooled.

He swallowed his saliva, thinking even more that he wanted to marry Su Xiaofeng, "Xiaofeng, did you agree or not? If you agreed, let's go inside and discuss the wedding date. While your belly isn't showing yet, let's quickly get married, to avoid the villagers gossiping about us. Don't you think?"

In this era, premarital pregnancy was a very serious matter. Knowing this, Liu An dared to come here and also understood that apart from marrying him, Su Xiaofeng had no other choice.

Listening to Liu An's words, Su Xiaofeng laughed as if listening to a joke, softly saying, "Brother, you're right—like a colorful butterfly indeed."

Dressed in flashy, colorful clothes—clearly up to no good.

Su Peng's eyebrows lifted proudly as if to tell everyone, "See? My sister said I'm right, a colorful butterfly indeed."

He even made a silly face at Liu An.

The people's gaze shifted, subconsciously looking towards Su Xiaofeng, secretly thinking that Su Xiaofeng's brain must also be damaged for speaking in favor of a fool today.

"Fengfeng," Liu An's tone couldn't have been softer, "let my father and me come inside to talk about the wedding date. We are mutually willing, and now that there is a child, marriage is certain. Or do you want to marry a fool and spend your life with one?"

Liu An looked at the tall and burly Su Peng, whose IQ was not even comparable to a child's, with disdain in his eyes—so tall and strong, what's the use if you are foolish? Even if you marry a wife, would you know where her door is?

"Liu An, didn't you hear her? Xiaofeng said the child is not yours. What's the point of making a fool of yourself here?" Hu Xiulan, loving the chaos, reminded Liu An that Su Xiaofeng had said the child in her belly wasn't his.

"Fengfeng is talking out of anger," Liu An chuckled, "She's mad at me for not coming to see her for almost two months. Fengfeng, don't be mad. Why let others laugh at us, right?"

If Su Xiaofeng were sensible, she would know what to do next. If she embarrassed him, he would definitely make trouble for Su Xiaofeng's family, shamelessly.

Su Xiaofeng looked coldly at Liu An, thinking about how to teach him a lesson.

Suddenly, her eyes sharpened; she walked over to the broom, casually picking it up, "Speaking of two months ago... it seems we indeed have a score to settle."

Liu An watched Su Xiaofeng pick up the broom, furrowing his brows with a bad feeling rising in his heart.

As soon as Su Xiaofeng finished speaking, she raised the broom to smash it onto his head.

Liu An couldn't dodge in time and took a blunt hit, grimacing in pain, then heard her cold voice, "Liu An, why did you show up on the hillside that day?"

This was Lihua Village, and Su Xiaofeng's family was large; Liu An didn't dare retaliate.

How could Liu An have imagined that when Su Xiaofeng hit someone, she was so swift and strong, making him clutch his head, without the strength to fight back, "Su Xiaofeng, have you forgotten how you appeared on the hillside that day, what you said to me? You said you didn't want to marry a fool, asked me to take you away from here—have you forgotten all that?"

Su Xiaofeng squinted her eyes.

The broom in her hand instantly fell, "How dare you spout nonsense."

"Ouch, ouch."

"How can you hit someone? I can't dare take such a wife." Liu Datou, carrying pork, stepped forward, "Stop, stop, we won't marry, won't marry."

Su Xiaofeng didn't pay him any heed, continuously hitting the most painful spots on Liu An's body, making him cry out, "I'll talk, I'll talk, please stop hitting, I'll say everything."

Su Xiaofeng raised her eyebrows as she looked at him.

Liu An leapt up instantly, wanting to strangle Su Xiaofeng. Damn it, just because this was Lihua Village, he thought Liu An wouldn't lay a hand on her.

Su Xiaofeng sneered coldly, the broom in her hand coming down hard once again.

"Ah," he screamed like a slaughtered pig.

"Speak," Su Xiaofeng sneered.

"I'll speak, I'll speak," Liu An cried, holding his head with both hands, desperately pleading, "It was me who had Su Xiaotao lure you to the hillside. I wanted to sleep with you, and in exchange, I promised to introduce Su Xiaotao to Doctor Cheng. That's why she agreed to help."

Hu Xiulan's face changed as she listened to Liu An's words, "Liu An, you scoundrel, what nonsense are you talking about? What has the affair between you and Su Xiaofeng got to do with my Taozi?"

It was simply outrageous; Hu Xiulan was about to explode with anger.

Liu An didn't hear what Hu Xiulan said, "Who knew you wouldn't play along? Before I could succeed, you rolled down the hillside. I also got hurt pretty bad and only felt better these past few days. I thought of looking for you again, but little did I expect..." Little did he expect, after two months without seeing her, Su Xiaofeng was pregnant, and he didn't know whose child it was.

Everyone's focus was on the fact that Liu An hadn't succeeded, which made them more suspicious about the child in Su Xiaofeng's belly not being Liu An's.

"Good one, Liu An, I'm going to report this to the brigade, then to the public security bureau. You tried to assault my daughter. I'm going to have you arrested," Elder Su, unable to contain his raging anger, grabbed a hoe from the corner, ready to fight Liu An to the death.

Liu An shrank his neck when he heard this.

If charged, it wouldn't be light; he might be locked up for many years.

"Nonsense," Of course, Liu Dashou couldn't let his son be imprisoned: "Your own daughter fooled around with who knows what man, and you blame my son? My son won't be made a scapegoat. Let's go, we're not marrying into this family after all."

"Su Xiaofeng, it was you who said just now that the child isn't mine, so don't think of pinning it on me ever again," Liu An was also somewhat frightened. The villagers might not have seen what happened two months ago, but many had witnessed today's events.

"Liu An, I saw you trying to bully my son today, and if you dare come again, I will report you to the public security and have you arrested," Elder Su was clearly thinking along the same lines, standing at the door furiously.

"You think we care about marrying," sneered Liu Dashou, "Who knows which wild man's child it is, messing around and corrupting morals."

"Right, I don't even want to marry anymore. Su Xiaofeng, you missed this chance and there won't be another. Even if you kneel before me and beg me to marry you after today, I won't give you another glance. Just spend your life with that fool."

Not recognizing the child was his. If it wasn't his, then it must be that fool's; what a joke.

"Get out," Su Xiaofeng raised her broom, ready to strike again.

Liu An felt a tingling on his scalp; Su Xiaofeng, this wretched woman, was truly ruthless, spitting in her direction: "You'll regret this."

Father and son Liu Dashou left the village in a rather embarrassing way.

"Xiaofeng, if the child in your belly isn't Liu An's, then who is it?" Hu Xiulan casually took out a handful of sunflower seeds from her pocket, cracking them open while inquiring about what she most wanted to know.

As soon as Hu Xiulan's voice rang out, the villagers' strong interest was piqued again, all eyes fixed on Su Xiaofeng.

Mocking, disdainful, indifferent, excited for the spectacle, sympathetic—the range of expressions was spectacular.
