Chapter 167: Wings of Union Ring
Not long ago.
"Teacher, is there a kind of magic that can be imbued into an object, allowing two people to share thoughts and life through it?" Du Qianjue asked, holding a clear Ice Polar Crystal, looking at the hologram of Electrolux.
Electrolux lifted his hand and stroked his beard, nodding, "Yes, there are quite a few types, each with different effects."
"Can I learn it?" Du Qianjue's eyes lit up.
Electrolux gave him a strange look, taking a long time to respond. With your sporadic study habits, you're hardly set for learning advanced magic! Although Du Qianjue had a talent for magic and could learn many spells easily, that was based on him actually spending time on magic. "Well, if you solidify your foundation in necromancy within a year, I'll teach you other advanced magical knowledge," Electrolux said, somewhat exasperated.
"Uh..." Du Qianjue was speechless. He really didn't have time to study necromancy. Despite appearing idle, he spent a significant amount of time training every day. How else could he have reached the level of a Soul Saint at his age? Electrolux wasn't truly blaming him; he saw Du Qianjue's progress and knew achieving such a level at thirteen was exceptionally explosive on the Holy Demon Continent. And with Du Qianjue's youth, there was plenty of time to waste, so he could afford to learn slowly.
"Why do you need such magic?" Electrolux asked, puzzled.
Du Qianjue scratched his head sheepishly, avoiding eye contact, "I haven't yet given Xue LingLong a proper gift, so I thought of making a pair of rings with sensing and sharing capabilities…"
"Ohh," Electrolux elongated his response, making Du Qianjue blush.
"Forget it, that kind of magic is beyond your current ability. You haven't even mastered the basics of magical construction or array building. The kind of magic that can ignore spatial constraints is impossible for you to learn now," Electrolux said bluntly, pouring cold water on his hopes.
However, as Du Qianjue felt disheartened, Electrolux changed the subject. "But..." he hinted. "What is it? Please tell me, teacher!" Du Qianjue's eyes sparkled again.
"If you spend more time in the future and learn my necromancy fully, mastering my teachings, I might help you make those rings," Electrolux said, casually stroking his beard.
Clearly, while Electrolux understood Du Qianjue's desire to improve his cultivation, he was displeased with his half-hearted approach to learning magic. "Alright! I will definitely work harder on necromancy!" Du Qianjue nodded vigorously. Thank you, teacher! Praise the teacher!
Electrolux shook his head resignedly, smacking his lips, "After all, you are my disciple. Let's consider these rings my gift to you and your future wife. It's just a pity I didn't bring my tower..." "Give me the materials," Electrolux said, extending his hand.
Du Qianjue quickly handed over the Ice Polar Crystal. Taking it, Electrolux weighed it in his hand, pondering for a moment. Although the Holy Demon Continent didn't have the rare Ice Polar Crystal, there were many spiritually active metals with similar principles. The craftsmanship in weapon making on the Holy Demon Continent couldn't be matched by that of the Douluo Continent. Making a pair of rings was simple for Electrolux, who had once crafted artifacts. The only real challenge was embedding the magic Du Qianjue requested into the rings. Mind-link magic was easy, but life-sharing was more complex.
"Give me some Spirit Life Gold," Electrolux requested after a moment. Du Qianjue opened his Life Spirit Eye and the Blade of Life Watch flew from his forehead to Electrolux's hand. Electrolux cut a thin slice of Spirit Life Gold with a flick, holding the Ice Polar Crystal in his left hand and the delicate slice in his right. He ignited a pure white flame that slowly melted both metals. The Spirit Life Gold contained immense life force, while the Ice Polar Crystal was rich with intense ice elemental power. Normally, the heat would release the energy contained in the metals, but under Electrolux control, they were as docile as ragdolls.
He mixed the melted metals together, and the blue Ice Polar Crystal turned into a dreamy cyan-gold under the influence of the green Spirit Life Gold. Satisfied, Electrolux nodded, appreciating the newly formed metal that retained the properties of both original metals—something even Du Qianjue couldn't fully understand. This level of craftsmanship was centuries ahead of any so-called master craftsman of the future.
"Very good," Electrolux smiled lightly, reigniting the soul fire in his hands to refine, compress, and shape the cyan-gold metal. Over time, he crafted a large and a small ring, each shaped like a curved wing with lifelike feathers.
"It's done. Name it," Electrolux said, slightly tired, tossing the rings to Du Qianjue. Catching them, Du Qianjue admired the rings affectionately. "Each ring is like one wing, and together they form a pair. Let's call them Wings of Union," Du Qianjue decided, placing the rings carefully in a golden box previously used for dragon pills.
"Wings of Union, huh? Nice name," Electrolux nodded, returning to Du Qianjue's sea of consciousness.
Now, the Wings of Union rings lay quietly in Du Qianjue's storage device, the real gift he intended for Xue LingLong.
