Chapter 34: Feridon's Choice
On the mountain road, five horses galloped at full speed. Their endurance and strength were amazing, even when crossing mountains and ridges.
This is the charging ability of excellent quality war horses. Ordinary horses are far inferior to them.
"The town of Shanlin is just ahead. There is a faint smell of blood in the air. It looks like Princet and Ronin have fought each other."
The leading knight was tall and strong, with a pair of squinty eyes on his face that looked particularly unnatural, and the slanting scar on his face made him look murderous all over.
This is Filiton Henry, the captain of the Knights of Sean.
"I wonder what the outcome of the battle will be?" Feridon was a little worried.
But his deputy Unai looked relaxed, "Boss, you don't have to worry too much. Princet can easily deal with the few people Roning brought. Why should we do anything?"
Feridon did not respond but just whipped the horse's butt and increased its speed.
After many twists and turns, they finally arrived at the top of the hill, where the landmark of Shanlin Town was located. The scene they saw stunned everyone.
"This..."
The deputy, who had just been joking, suddenly froze on his face, unable to describe the shock he felt at the moment.
Apart from him, no one, including Feridon, had expected the scene before them.
They saw dozens of corpses lying on the ground not far away, and in the front were familiar figures - Princet, Deson, Kate, and Malte.
What struck them most was the group of people standing on the blood and among the corpses.
They held bloody swords in their hands and looked at the uninvited guests silently but with murderous intent.
"How is it possible! Prince and the other five extraordinary people are all dead?"
The deputy, Knight Unai, said the first sentence in shock, "He is a mid-level knight. His strength is not lower than mine."
Feridon glanced across the battlefield and warned, "Watch carefully. Ronin and his men not only killed Princet, but their casualties were very small. It can be said that this battle was almost a crushing victory."
His eyes sparkled with wisdom, "The intelligence is wrong. There is an expert around Luo Ning!"
"Then what should we do? Should we go up or not?" Unai asked in a low voice.
Feridon frowned. Since the Baron was not able to come over, many things had to be decided by him.
"Test the situation first."
On the other side, Luo Ning saw the other party coming and felt very nervous.
What he feared most was that the other party would rush forward without any hesitation, leaving him no room for a buffer.
Fortunately, the situation is very good.
When Roning saw that Feridon and others had been standing there on horseback for a long time, he knew that his presence had frightened the other side and made them suspicious.
So he has to appear more "confident".
Roning was seen holding a sword and walking slowly forward for a distance while McKen and Elron followed closely beside him.
"Who are you, and what are you doing in Shanlin Town?"
Feridon and Unai looked at each other and said, "It looks like a complete crushing defeat. Princet and the others died before they could even reveal Baron Leisen's plan."
Only a handful of people knew about the siege on Ronin. According to the plan, once Princet and his men succeeded, they would kill all the infantrymen involved.
As long as they died, Ronin would have no way to know their plans.
Feridon quickly dismounted a smile on his face, "I am Feridon Henry, the captain of the Sean Knights. Nice to meet you, Lord Roning!"
Luo Ning's heart moved. There was a chance.
"Sir Feridon, do you know me?"
When Luo Ning asked the question, he looked the other person up and down with a suspicious and scrutinizing gaze, making the other person feel that he had become alert.
"Why did the knights from Thane County appear in my Shanlin Town?"
Feridon was also observing Roning's every move, and he became more and more convinced that the other party didn't know he was coming.
So, he gave the excuse he had already prepared: "Sir, I was just hunting in the mountains with the knights, and I happened to hear the sound of fighting here, so I rode over to see what was going on."
As Feridon spoke, he looked past Ronin and focused on the body behind him. He pretended to be puzzled and asked, "Sir, what's behind this?"
Luo Ning looked back at the corpses lying on the ground and couldn't help but smile awkwardly.
"Just killed a few traitors."
He shrugged, "I'm sorry to make you laugh."
"Traitor?" Feridon was surprised and looked at the body on the ground again. "I have seen that man before. Could he be Princet, the government official of Hillwood Town? Did he betray you?"
"Yeah~"
Ronin said, walked back, kicked Princet's head so that he stood up facing Feridon, and then continued:
"This guy has been a government official in Hillwood Town for a few years, and he thinks he is the master of Hillwood Town."
Luo Ning's tone was full of disdain. "It's a pity that he overestimated his own strength and underestimated mine. He was beheaded in one encounter."
He kicked the head off and said, "You dare to challenge the majesty of the Wushan Family with just this little strength. You are overestimating yourself!"
All the doubts in Feridon's heart disappeared at this moment. He was already sure that there must be a master around Roning.
He cut off Princet's head in one encounter. This man must have high-level strength!
And in this scene, looking at Roning's arrogant attitude, it is obvious that he did not take Feridon seriously.
"That is to say, he is not worried at all that the five of us might take action!"
Feridon took a deep breath and glanced at the two people beside Roning. He didn't recognize either of these two faces, but they both looked like extraordinary people.
Especially the strong and steady McKenzie, who looks even more unfathomable.
"I didn't expect Princet to betray you!"
Feridon shook his head in disbelief. "I remember that he was a mid-level knight. You were able to defeat him easily. It seems that the Marquis and the Earl must have arranged for experts to protect you in secret."
"There is no protection whatsoever."
Luo Ning said indifferently: "On the surface, it's just a high-level peak knight. I guess he is not as strong as you~"
Feridon's pupils shrank. It would not be easy for a high-level peak knight to win easily.
If he took action here, even if he killed Ronin, there was a great possibility that this knight would escape.
If word were spread of what he had done at Wushan Castle, then Senland's good days would be over.
And this is just what's on the surface.
Feridon remembered Baron Leisen's instructions, telling him not to take action unless he was absolutely sure.
As for Princet and the others, even if they gave out Lord Sean, Lei Sen could still say that they were slandering him.
"Captain, do we want it?" Unai asked in a low voice.
Feridon shook his head slightly and saluted Ronin. "The dignity of the Wushan family cannot be violated. Respected Baron, is there anything I can do for you?"
"Thank you for your thought, Sir Feridon!"
Luo Ning spread his hands, looking down on the other party, "But I have already dealt with it here, and the next thing is nothing more than collecting the bodies."
"I really want to let you stay overnight, but unfortunately, I don't even know which room I will stay in tonight."
This is the meaning of the order to expel.
Feridon was not angry. He was very respectful. "Then I wish you a good night, sir."
"Thank you for your blessing, sir!"
Roning waved at him and said, "Please also tell Baron Leisen that as a neighbor, I look forward to meeting him."
"must!"
Feridon remounted his horse and prepared to leave with his team of knights.
Luo Ning turned around and shouted in a deep voice: "Everyone, clean up the battlefield now, clean out their pockets, don't leave a single copper coin behind!"
"Yes!" the guards responded loudly.
The uniform sound echoed, startling Feridon and others who were about to leave.
They couldn't help but turn their heads to look over and see that the guards were in such high spirits.
"Walk!"
Feridon shouted in a low voice and drove away on his horse.
Looking at the other person's departing back, Luo Ning's back was already soaked with sweat.
Sure enough, the other party was unwilling to take the risk.
He made the right bet.
"Keep lying down!"
He came to Malte and whispered, "Others, start cleaning up the battlefield."
On the other hand, Feridon and others walked down the hillside, and when their figures disappeared from Ronin's sight, their speed slowed down.
"Captain, are we really going back like this?" Knight Unai asked in disbelief.
Feridon frowned, pondered for a while, and looked back in the direction of Shanlin Town.
"Wait for me here!"
As he said this, he dismounted and ran quickly towards the battlefield. This time, he did not take the main road but used the trees in the mountains to hide his figure.
"Sir, someone is approaching."
Elrond warned in a low voice.
Roning smiled in his heart. Sure enough, the other party would come back to confirm. Fortunately, he had just told Malte to continue lying down.
If Feridon came back and saw Malte standing up, he would definitely tell at a glance that he was acting.
Feridon, who had hidden himself well in the woods, watched silently.
He saw that the group of guards were actually searching the corpses for copper coins. In addition to Ronin, McKen and Elrond were searching Princet and others for something.
"I'm really not pretending."
The last bit of suspicion in Feridon's heart disappeared. "It seems that the Baron's plan has failed."
He sighed and returned to the team. "Let's go back and report the situation to the Baron."
