From the position of their heads, one could tell that they had a non believing look. Was this elder for real? When others could do anything to get from that list, he wanted to make them raise his standing on the list.
Only one who had lost value in life or one who had utmost confidence that they could survive could dare take the risk. The first was the most likely. Was he not an elder? What if he was doing all this so that they could help take his life away? If only they knew Marx wanted to use them as training puppets.
Well they had one way to confirm it. If they could kill the elder, then it meant that he was seeking death but if they failed, they did not want to think of the latter. They were going to die by the hands of the elder.
In many cases, greed is the major cause of one's downfall. These assassins were blinded by the huge amount on the elder's head. Many of them were still in the Silver Rank and they never saw missions of this caliber.
This mission was probably a Gold Rank one. Yet, because it had been sent to every one of them, they thought that it was within their means. They even forgot about the feat Marx had accomplished the previous night.
"I would like to see that old arrogant face of yours get wrinkled after I kill you and claim the reward. But do not worry, I will take pity on the old and give you a quick death. What do you think? Am I not generous?" The speaker was a male with a plastic yellow mask that had roaring lion drawing on it.
"Tsk. I should give you the same offer don't you think? Even if you all come at me, you won't manage to land a hit on me," Marx spoke his voice still the same as that of an older man.
If one could see through the masks, they had raised their brows. Some had masks that only covered their lower face. Others had ninja masks and others had full face masks.
"Then, blame your arrogance for your death elder," the man with the yellow mask said.
" They say ignorance is bliss, I guess I believe it now," Marx said as he thought of the best way to get out of this situation.
He could not show his skills to them. But maybe he would give them a glimpse of his skills. He raised his hand and pointed his fist on them and shot the blue laser. The main advantage he had with this was that everyone usually ignored it.
He shot three bullets that aimed at three of them. The reasons they were usually ignored as dangerous was that they were just blue glows coming from his wrist. They were usually not painful and it was like light hitting a barrier.
The three included the female who had spoken, a man with black ninja clothing and the man with the roaring lion drawing. They watched the light shoot at them at incomprehensible speed. It was not usual human instinct to run from light.
The lady instead tried to reach for it. The men just stood as the lights collided with their bodies at the chests. The lady who had raised her palm to touch the light got lucky as it disappeared in her hands like light should.
No one could understand why he could send the light rather than attack them. The problem with this people was that they lacked exposure. If they had it, they would reaize the danger they were staring at.
"Now," Marx said after two seconds. They all raised their head and looked at Marx. Was something supposed to happen? But they were about to get the answer as the two men crumbled to the floor and fell sideways lifeless.
They looked at Marx confused. Even the lady was shocked. What was happening. Her hand suddenly felt dumb and it felt smooth. Too smooth to begin with. Like they had been lubricated. She looked at palm and she saw it bleeding.
Her whole hand was going numb at incomprehensible speed. She could not move it within the next second.
"What did you do to me?" She asked. Her voice panicky and shaky. She then looked at the dead men who were now bleeding from their chest.
"Honestly, I don't think there is cure. All that awaits you is death. At least you have two hours. You can use them to say your goodbyes to those that matter to you," Marx said like he had done nothing out of the ordinary.
" Bastard. Tell me the cure now or I will kill you before you die!" She started blubbering her voice shaky. Marx sighed. That was human nature. To bow down to the strong ones. If only they could get rid of this fear and act themselves everytime.
" Those who desire to kill have an equal desire to die. You should know that you are not the only ones who can kill. Even you can be killed. You should try to go to the hospital. Maybe they have a cure I don't know of," Marx said with a casual tone.
He knew of the cure. Had he not given the villagers the prescription of the herbs they could use to cure those that had been shot during the mission? How could the hospitals lack a cure. Since she was panicky, he could just make her heart stop out of fear.
" But I doubt even if you can reach the hospital, the poison spreads in five minutes. After that, it become ingrained in your body and you can't survive even after getting treated. Just beg for your death and I might give you an easy death. In the next ten seconds, you will lose the ability to move your other hand," Marx spoke the words that made the remaining seven shiver.
Again that was a lie. The poison usually took twelve hours before the victim was dead as long as it did not hit a vital organ. The lady felt her head spinning. True to Marx's words, she became unable to use her right hand.
Fear really was a powerful weapon. If she had already set her mind to believe that, she was not going to manage. She could even die in less than the two hours he had joked about. This was going very well.
"If you want the cure, you should beg for in the next two seconds, you will be unable to talk," Marx was already laughing his ass out. Only that he could not show it.
"I won't beg! I will die like a warrior fuc..." She went silent.
Her mask actually came out and her eyes were wide with horror. Her mouth was wide like it had been stopped halfway.
"I guess that I should just end you," Marx said and shot another bullet for her forehead. Her eyes widened as she saw the bullet flash and shoot her head. The process was painless.
She was already dead as the bullet shot her head. She fell the same way as the others. She was the one who suffered mostly from her low mental strength. Marx pointed the fists to the rest of them and they stepped away for him to pass.
But was he going to let them go? He was not that easy to convince. Who knew whether they would not get the courage and try to attack him again. They had even threatened his life to begin with. What made them think that he would let them go?
"You know that you can't drag others into a pit and expect to leave after they come out. What makes you think that you have an option of stepping away? Just maintain your position and embrace the death you wanted to give to others," Marx said and shot the bullets.
They had thought that he was bluffing but when they saw how serious he was, they gritted their teeth and embraced their situation. Since they had seen how dangerous the lights were, the were quick to evade.
But how long could they evade? He had just used one hand. What if he used both? Did they think that they stood a chance? He was shooting as fast as blinking and the seven were having a hard time evading.
But it became harder when Marx raised the other fist. Six bullets shot from his writs and two were unlucky and they got shot. The worse part was that they did not realize that they had been shot.
They were still in the process of evading when they felt their body go numb and their conciousness fading. They fell face first and the others paused to look but was this the time to get distracted? Weren't they being targeted too?
Marx decided put them in a difficult position. He aimed at a single person at a time. All three muzzles aimed at one person and shot all six bullets at her. If one saw her face, it was that of helplessness. Why had he cosen her first.
She tried to evade the first one but what about the other five. She somehow managed to evade two but the other four hit her body at different points. One hit her forehead.
Everyone had stopped to observe. Just how merciless could this elder be? He was messing around with them then killing them. Who was dumb to think that the lady had evaded the bullets from her speed. Was it not Marx who missed on purpose?
The reamining four swallowed hard. Just what kind pf mess had they put themselves in? Just stopping the elder was enough for him to kill them all. And to make it worse, toy with them. It was the most frustrating day they lived. It was also their death day for sure.
Again, Marx locked on to a lady. Why? That was the only question ringing in her mind. From the time Marx decided to kill an enemy despite their age, he had not hesitated since then. He was picking ladies on purpose so that he could f6irce the remaining three men into despair.
If he did that to ladies, then what was he going to do to them men? The lady stood like she had been hypnotized as the six bullets collided with her as she died a painless death. Then he turned to the men who were still hypnotized.
For the first time, he saw three men pee themselves. If it was only one of them who peeid himself, it was acceptable but the three of them, was it even possible? Just how fearsome was he?
