Chapter 11 - Alexandros...

The camp is awoken by the yelling of commanders. Dionysus and the rest of Nikos' men are ready to face the Athenian threat. They all arose and moved to the entrance of the camp where they fell into formation under their commanders. Once in the marching formation they began to move. It had been quite a few days since Dionysus was attacked and made Corinthian once more. He hadn't seen Markos or General Demeter since a few days before the attack on him either.

"Alexandros, are you ready to kill some Athenian scum, and put Corinthians back atop the Greek world?" Athanasios asked with excitement, "are you ready to be the hero of the Greek world?".

"Where do you get you military enthusiasm from, Athanasios?" inquired Dionysus, "who or what made you like this? Why are you so violent and aggressive?". Only if Dionysus knew the amount of violence he carried on the battlefield before the attack on him.

"My mentor of course. The late great general Eros or better known as 'The Boar'. I was on the battlefield when I watched him go over the cliff. It was quite terrifying, but we definitely showed the Athenians what courage looked like after that." Athanasios said with a big smile and a huge laugh.

"Wait what do you mean he went over the cliff? Like he just went over the edge?" Dionysus asked hesitantly.

"No, of course not, Eros was not like that. He was a great general. its a shame that the Athenian he was fighting seemed to know every move of his." Athanasios said sharply, "why don't I just tell you the story of that battle?".

"Honestly, that definitely beats marching in silence for however long." Dionysus said back.

"Very well." Athanasios shakingly said, "we had just made it to the battlefield. Eros had sent out the first group of men. As did the Athenians. The sounds of the blades and shields from both sides was immense. All you could hear was the bashing and clashing and screams, all you could see was the xiphos flying and the spears thrusting, as well as the men falling on both sides. It was so gruesome and unbelievably insane. The amount of men falling was honestly unimaginable. It was quite unclear of who was winning the battle at that point. Our men fought as hard as they could, still unsure of who was winning. Eventually the Athenians had sent the second group of men, It seemed as though we were winning the battle. But that thought was gone as fast as it had appeared. The Athenians had dwindled us down to where we had to send out our second group. Albeit we still looked to be having the upper hand. It was a perpetual cycle of adding new groups to the fray to keep our upper hand over the Athenians. We constantly added and added to the battle. To us and Eros it seemed we finally were going to win. They were down to their final two groups. I was finally sent in, and Eros came in to. We began our personal battle at this point. I was by Eros almost the entire time. We fought and fought, we were cutting down the Athenians like they were nothing. We finally made it down to the final group. We were so close to winning that battle. We ultimately did, but not after heavy loses."

"Athanasios, stop talking and keep marching." Barked Nikos, "we aren't poets nor are we drama writers. By the gods we're fucking soldiers. Get the fuck up here so you stop talking." And as he was told Athanasios hurriedly made his way over to Nikos. It became eerily quiet back by Dionysus, he wasn't really sure what he was going to do at this point. The story of that battle was the only thing that was giving his any clue to what happened, even though deep down he knew exactly what had happened to Eros.

They finally made it to the battlefield. Dionysus and Athanasios were put in different groups for the fight. Which really didn't sit right with Dionysus, that was his only friend at the moment. Dionysus had to wait and wait before getting into this battle. He was so far down in the fight groups, he was in the third to last fight group. He watched and watched as Athanasios and others fought and beat the Athenians. He was eager to get back into battle. His eagerness was evident to all around him, it was like the blood of Aries was pumping through his veins, the ferocity of a thousand Spartans could be seen in his eyes. The men around him started to fear Dionysus. They cowered when he'd turn to them in fear that he would take his ferocity out on them.

Sadly for Dionysus and luckily for the Athenians, he never made it to the battlefield, he was not needed by the Corinthians. They had defeated the Athenians well before getting near Dionysus' fight group. Dionysus was at first a little disappointed that he never got to the actual battle, but eventually he started to feel relieved as if he would have regretted fighting on the battlefield. Dionysus couldn't quite figure out why, but soon enough he would.

"Alexandros," cried Athanasios with excitement, "I'm sorry you couldn't make it onto the battlefield."

"Don't worry Athanasios, I'll be on the next one. Just watch out, I'll have more kills than you." Dionysus said in a partial manner. he wasn't really one to joke, he knew he was better and he was going to have more if he said, so that's what was going to happen.

"If you say so Di- Alexandros, but I'm not so sure that's the case." Athanasios said quickly back. Hoping Dionysus didn't catch what he just did. Which it first seemed that way, he gave him a slightly confused look but really didn't seem to truly notice.

"I'll talk to you tomorrow, Athanasios, I'm a little disappointed and confused." Dionysus said while wandering away from Athanasios. He had wandered in the direction of the commander Nikos, but he seemed to be walking with a blank intention. Unknown to Nikos, Athanasios, and the men, Dionysus started to think about what Athanasios accidentally did. He wondered what Athanasios was about to call him. Dionysus thought and thought. Something didn't feel right to him anymore about the situation he was in anymore.
